When Gilles died, he was 32, but a lot of people in the F-1 fraternity believed that he was 30. Gilles lied about his age, and made himself younger so that all doors would open up for him.

3. Joann was Gilles's wife. What was her maiden name?

Answer: Barthe

She was born in Joliette (Canada). She lived in Connecticut for a couple of years, while in her childhood, but moved back to Quebec thereafter.

Answer: Skiroule

Gilles Ferland, a family friend, gave a machine to Gilles. He began to race and started to win races. The next winter, he was hired by the Skiroule Company as a factory driver/mechanic.

Mainly due to Gilles's God-given talent, he managed 2nd on the grid with the sluggish Ferrari 126C. He managed even better in the race, by winning the deal!
