This epic 75-round brawl took place in 1889 in Richburg, Mississippi.
2. In December 1908, who became the first African-American world heavyweight champion?

Answer: Jack Johnson

He became champion on December 26, 1908. He was champion until April of 1915!
3. Who won the "The Battle of the Long Count", fought in 1927?

Answer: Gene Tunney

Tunney was down for 14 seconds but Jack Dempsey took too long getting to the neutral corner so the count was delayed. This was a title defense.
4. Who defeated the Brown Bomber in 1936 before he was the champion?

Answer: Max Schmeling

The Brown Bomber, Joe Louis, held the title for almost 12 years! He defeated Schmeling later in a title defense.
5. Who was the only champion to retire undefeated?

Answer: Rocky Marciano

Rocky retired in 1956 with a record of 49 wins, 43 by KO, and no defeats.
6. Who was the first heavyweight fighter to regain his title after losing it in the ring?

Answer: Floyd Patterson

Ingemar Johansson defeated Patterson, but lost to him in the rematch a year latter in June 1960.
