Answer: Kenneth Adams

Also known as "Bud", Adams still owned the team in 2003. Even though he moved the team to Nashville, "Bitter party of one."
2. Who was the first running back for the Oilers?

Answer: Billy Cannon

Cannon, a LSU stand out, was signed to contract in grand fashion, at the end of the Sugar Bowl, under the goal post.
3. Where did the Oilers play their first six seasons?

Answer: Jeppesen Stadium

Jeppesen Stadium, on the University of Houston campus, was the home of the early Oilers. It was also the site of the first AFL World Championship.

Billy Cannon wore number 20. Not a lot of people know this because there was not a lot of film from the early days. If you know this, you are probably a real Oiler fan.

The Dome was rockin' on December 10, 1979, when the Steelers came to town for a most incredible Monday night game. A local bank handed out 'Luv ya Blue' flash cards to all fans. The stadium was a sea of Columbia Blue, and the Oilers won 17-10.
9. What was the score of the first AFC Championship game, the Oilers played in, against Pittsburgh?

Answer: 34-5

Bradshaw and the Steelers beat the Oilers 34-5 in Three Rivers Stadium. The weather was horrible, rain, sleet, and snow. The Steelers went on to Super Bowl XIV to beat the Cowboys in an epic battle 35-31.

Answer: Pastorini to Renfro, Touchdown vs. Pittsburgh

AFC Championship vs. Pittsburgh, Pitt 17, Hou 10, Pastorini throws a pass to Mike Renfro in the corner of the end zone. TOUCHDOWN! Game tied. NOT! The refs blew the call, and said that Renfro did not make the catch. Instant replay showed he did. The 'Stealers' went on to win the game 27-13, and went on to Super Bowl XV to play the Rams.

Answer: Ken Stabler, Oakland Raiders

In a trade that was supposed to take the Oilers all the way to the Super Bowl, Ken Stabler was traded 'heads up' for Dan Pastorini.

The first year we knocked on the door....this year we banged on it....next year, we're gonna' kick the xxxxxxxx in! Bum stated this at the Oiler rally after the 1979 game vs. Pittsburgh. The end came the next year when Oakland knocked the Oilers out of the playoffs, in the first round 27-7. Bum was fired the next day.
13. Who replaced Bum Phillips as Head Coach of the Houston Oilers for the 1981 season?

Ed Biles was named as Phillip's replacement. Ed changed the primary offense from the I-formation to a one back set, hoping to rely on the power running style of Earl Campbell. But, three years of pounding and no blocking back took its toll on Earl, and he was injured and put out mid-season. The offense was never the same.

Bum went to New Orleans right after Houston, and tried to re-kindle the old fire by filling his back field with some of his favorites.

Even though all of these losses stunk, the one that sticks in all our guts, was against the Buffalo Bills. The Oilers had a 35-3 lead in the third quarter and promptly gave the game away, as the Bills came back to tie at 38-38, and then win in overtime.
