After many unsuccessful attempts to win at the road course, Jeff gained his first road course victory in August 1997 at Watkins Glen. The streak ended at Watkins Glen in 2000 when Tony Sewart forced Gordon in to the wall only 5 laps in to the race. In 2002, Sears Point Raceway was renamed Infineon Raceway. The company Infineon bought the name rights to the raceway for the next 10 years.
