The Connecticut Huskies won the National Championship in 2004, 2011 and 2014 besting Georgia Tech, Butler and Kentucky, respectively. UConn established their basketball program in 1901 and won their first NCAA title in 1999 under head coach John Calhoun, considered to be one of the all-time greats. Notable players to go on and play in the NBA include Ray Allen and Richard Hamilton.

The Kansas Jayhawks won the 2008 National Championship over the Memphis Tigers in a game that was decided in overtime.
