Question 1 of 10

3. I carry four wedges: 47, 52, 56, and 60 degree models. The company that makes them is known worldwide as the maker of "the best wedge in golf". It must be true, they sold more than anyone else. The founder and namesake of this company sold it and moved on to work as chief designer for the largest golf company in the world. Can you name the wedge? Hint

6. It took me years to acquire a 3-wood that I was able to control perfectly. I've been through all the major companies and finally settled on a model from 2005. Can you name this fairway wood? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. My driver is from the most popular Driver Manufacturer on the planet. It has 4 different weight ports for trajectory modification on the back of the head. The face is titanium and the head is all black. The standard graphite shaft is black, gold, and red. Which one is it?

Answer: TaylorMade R7 SuperQuad

The TaylorMade R7 SuperQuad is the only "quad" mentioned. The other TaylorMade drivers have two weight ports. The Titleist has none. The R7 is the the most popular driver on tour and in stores. It comes from 10 years of research beginning with the R500 series models, through the R5 models, to the R7's.
2. My irons are from a company that only makes forged golf heads for better players. The feel is buttery soft, the heads have a small top-line and aggressive heel with minimal offset. These are cavity back irons. Can you name them?

Answer: Titleist 755

Titleist was the only company to offer forged heads only. Apparently, they make enough money on golf balls so they don't go after the bigger market of more-forgiving cast clubs.

Answer: Cleveland CG10

Cleveland wedges are known for their soft feel and response. Roger Cleveland sold the company in 2002 and went to work as head designer at Callaway Golf.
4. My putter is from a legend who makes very high quality putters. They are pricey, but any club you hit 30 times per round should be the most expensive (if necessary) and best feeling club in the bag. Which putter is it?

Answer: Titleist Scotty Cameron Red X

The legendary Master "Scotty Cameron" had been making putters for over 40 years. His clubs were used by more than half of all PGA Tour players. The Red X, according to Scotty, is his best-feeling, most-responsive, and accurate design yet.
5. This lesser known company burst onto the scene in 2005 with a hybrid that immediately took the Nationwide, and later the PGA Tour by storm. After only three years and three design changes, this club was the reigning "tour players choice" of hybrid. Can you name it?

Answer: Nickent 4DX Ironwood

Nickent introduced the 3DX 3 years ago. Last year it was the 3DX DC. Then they remodeled it as the 4DX. Oddly, this company does not pay endorsement fees to pros that carry their clubs. And they are still number one with the pros.
6. It took me years to acquire a 3-wood that I was able to control perfectly. I've been through all the major companies and finally settled on a model from 2005. This was made by the same company that sells more hybrid clubs than all other companies combined. The sole has a swept back design for ease of gliding through the turf. Can you name this fairway wood?

Answer: TaylorMade V Steel

The soles' v-shape does work as advertised. I have no idea why they went to the less popular R7 & Burner series. Their Rescue Mid Series hybrids have sold over 50 million and were still going strong even though they had been out of production for 3 years.
7. The golf ball I use had to add a number after the name, so they wouldn't infringe on a copyright and trademark for another product. Can you name it?

Answer: Titleist Pro V1

The best-selling golf ball, the Pro V1 had to add the number "one" because a company named Pantene sells a set of hair care products called "Pro V".
8. My iron shafts are very popular on tour. They are chrome steel with blue paint all over them. They are stepless which give them a nice clean look. The frequency of and bend point of each shaft are progressively higher as you go from 3 iron to wedge. Can you name the shafts?

Answer: Royal Precision Rifle Project X Flighted

3 of the 4 shafts are stepless. The Dynamic Gold are not. The Project X models are covered in blue paint for the whole world to see, luckily I don't notice it. Flighted means the clubs have been frequency matched and the bend points raise from mid to high throughout the set.

This gives you higher trajectory on the long irons for distance and ease, and lower trajectory in the scoring irons for precision.
9. I use the same brand of graphite shafts in all my woods. They are made from the same company who developed the popular "IRod" and "Competition" series shafts. The color of these is gold and white with black lettering. Can you name it?

Answer: UST ProForce V2

The V2 is another shaft that has been very popular on the tour. These are very low torque shafts, with a mid-high bend point for low-mid trajectory.
10. Without grips in good condition, you're play will get worse. It is recommended that grips be changed every year, and twice a year for golfers who play twice a week or more. Mine are by the number one grip maker. They are the "Dual Durometer 2" version of their popular "Tour Velvet" series. Can you name the company?

Answer: Golf Pride

Golf Pride are the leaders in Golf Grips. You will see many pro's using the inexpensive "Tour Velvet" style. They are clean and all black with no markings for distraction. Lamkin has very similar styles and feel.
