1. With the first pick of the 2004 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers selected which QB from Ole Miss?

Answer: Eli Manning

Manning had over 10,000 passing yards and over 80 touchdowns in his career at Ole Miss. The Chargers soon traded Manning to the Giants in a deal involving Phillip Rivers.
2. Most scouts said that Sean Taylor (Safety, Miami) was the best safety prospect ever. Who drafted him?

Answer: Washington Redskins

He had 14 interceptions at Miami and returned 3 of them for touchdowns.
3. Kellen Winslow Jr. (son of hall of fame tight end Kellen Winslow) was also said to be the best ever prospect at his position (tight end). With which pick did the Cleveland Browns select him?

Answer: 6

The Browns traded to #6 in the first round to make sure that they got Winslow. Winslow is a do-it-all tight end. He set a record for catches by a tight end at Miami with 119 catches.
4. The 2004 Draft set many records. One record was most wide receivers taken in the first round. How many were taken in the first round?

Answer: 7

Larry Fitzgerald, Roy Williams, Reggie Williams, Lee Evans, Michael Clayton, Michael Jenkins, and RaShaun Woods, were the 7 taken in the first round. Mike Williams of USC would have made 8, but he was blocked from the draft in a court ruling.
5. Another record that this draft set was most trades. Which of the following teams was not involved in a first round trade?

Answer: Green Bay

Green Bay stayed put and drafted Ahmad Carroll. Carroll was a cornerback from Arkansas. He earned the nickname "Batman" for some of his acrobatic plays. St. Louis traded up and drafted Stephen Jackson (RB, Oregon State). Miami traded up one spot to draft Vernon Carey (OL, Miami). Indianapolis traded out of the first round and picked up more later picks.
6. A record set in this draft was most players selected from one school. Which school had 14 players drafted?

Answer: Ohio State

These 14 players were the biggest reason why Ohio State won the National Championship in 2002. If Maurice Clarett was not ruled ineligible, OSU would have had 15 players drafted.
7. A record was set for players from the same school selected in the first round. Which football powerhouse produced six first round picks in 2004?

Answer: Miami

Sean Taylor, Kellen Winslow Jr, Jonathan Vilma, D.J. Williams, Vernon Carey, and Vince Wilfork, were the 6 Hurricanes taken in the first round. The Miami Hurricanes continue to produce lots of NFL talent and find ways to replace it.
8. The 2004 top offensive lineman was Robert Gallery, who was selected by Oakland at #2 overall. Where did Gallery go to College?

Answer: Iowa

Gallery did not allow a sack in his final 36 collegiate games. He was the best offensive line prospect the draft had seen since Orlando Pace.
9. Which of the following teams did not have two first round picks in the 2004 draft?

Answer: New Orleans

Five teams had two first round picks in 2004: Atlanta, New England, Buffalo, Houston, and Detroit.
10. Which of these players were selected in the first round?

Answer: Ben Watson, TE Georgia

Ben Watson's stock soared enough after having excellent workouts to push him into the first round. The New England Patriots selected Watson with the 32 pick of the first round.
