Answer: Indianapolis Colts

The Saints ended up with a 13-3 record, as did the Chargers did quietly. The Vikings who were led by Brett Favre, finished out with a 12-4 record. Peyton Manning's Colts closed the season out with their 14-2 record.
2. The Detroit Lions had a perfect season in 2008, but in the wrong direction by going 0-16. Which team had the worst season record in 2009?

Answer: St. Louis Rams

Both the Redskins and Chiefs went 4-12 in 2009. The Lions pulled off two wins in the season by defeating the Redskins in Week 3 19-14, then the Browns in Week 11 38-37. 38 points was the most points that the Lions had scored since Week 9 in 2007, in a 44-7 win against the Broncos.

The Rams were pretty dismal in 2009, going 1-15. Ironically, their only win in the season was a 17-10 victory in Week 8 against the Lions.
3. Only one NFL team in 2009 scored more than 500 points in the season. Which team accomplished this amazing total?

Answer: New Orleans Saints

The others scored less than 425 points, but still no slouch by any means. Teams that scored at least 400 points in the season were the Saints with 510, the Vikings with 470, the Packers with 461, Chargers scoring 454, the Eagles with 429, the Colts scoring 416, and the Giants with 402 points.
4. Which NFC player in the season caught his 15,000th career yard in receptions?

Answer: Isaac Bruce

The others were all AFC players. Bruce was a 49er in 2009 and was in his 16th NFL season after spending 14 seasons with the Rams. He had a career high in 1996 by catching 1338 passing yards, and in 1995 caught a career high 119 passes.
5. Only one team's defense gave up less than 250 points to their opponents in the season. Which team was it?

Answer: New York Jets

Believe it or not, the Jets' defense only gave up 236 points throughout the entire season. Second was the Cowboys by giving up 250 points, then the Ravens with 261. The others listed were at least eighth on the list, and all gave up more than 300 points in the season.

Answer: Jeff Feagles

The others did not kick 1200 punts in their careers. Jeff was in his 22nd season, and in 2009 was a New York Giant. With 64 punts in the season, he ended the season with 1713 career punts.

Andre Johnson was the Texans biggest recipient with 1569 yards, the only Houston receiver to go over 1000 yards in the season.

The Texans finished the season with a 9-7 record, good enough for second place in the AFC South.

Feagles was a New York Giants kicker in 2009, and was one game short of moving into second place on the all-time games played list behind Gary Anderson who played in 353 career games. Terrell moved into the sixth spot on the all-time list in the season, just a few passes behind the only active player on the list, Isaac Bruce. Owens was a Buffalo Bill in 2009, after playing for many teams prior in his career.

One of very few highlights for the St. Louis Rams in the season, rookie Danny Amendola from Texas Tech led the league with 1618 return yards.

After shining in 2008 with the Patriots, Cassel had a much different offensive line with the Chiefs in 2009. Both Garrard and Cassel coughed up the ball 14 times in the season. Cassel also threw 16 touchdowns along with 16 interceptions.

The others all allowed more than 100 rushing yards per game. The Packers' defense allowed only 83.3 yards per game average. They allowed only five rushing touchdowns in the entire season. On the other end of the spectrum with rushing yardage allowed, the Buccaneers were at the bottom of the list by allowing 158.2 yards per game. Both the Raiders and Rams also tied for the league low by allowing 24 rushing touchdowns each.
