3. Has Tommy Salo ever recorded two consecutive shutouts in his career?

Answer: Yes

Tommy Salo not only got two consecutive shutouts, he achieved the amazing feat twice in his career. The first time was between October 14 and 17, 1998 with 2-0, and 1-0 respective victories over the Tampa Bay Lightning and the St. Louis Blues. The second time was from March 7-9, 2001 when he recorded dual 4-0 victories over the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres.
4. After receiving a trade offer from the Edmonton Oilers, Tommy Salo was traded from his draft team for one player and a draft pick. Who was the player and what round was the draft pick for?

Answer: Mats Lindgren and 8th round draft pick

Tommy Salo was traded from the Islanders to the Oilers on March 20, 1999. The 8th round pick was defenseman Radek Martinek, a regular in the Islanders lineup for his entire career. Mats Lindgren had 128 career points in 387 games for the Islanders, Oilers, and Canucks before suffering a career ending injury.
5. In his respectable career, Tommy Salo was unfortunate enough to face four penalty shots. He stopped seventy-five percent of them, though one particular shot beat him. Who scored on Salo?

Answer: Rob Zamuner

Rob Zamuner, a former NHL player for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins, and Ottawa Senators scored a penalty shot goal against Salo on January 11, 1997. The players who missed shots were Brendan Shanahan as a member of the Red Wings, Mike Sillinger of the Canucks and ex-Oiler Mike Comrie.
6. During his career, Salo had the opportunity to play in two NHL all star games. In what two seasons did that occur?

Answer: 1999-00 and 2001-02

Tommy Salo's first all-star appearance put him as the second goaltender for the World All-star team. His team won against the North American all-stars by a score of 9-4. His second all-star appearance was in the same World/North America format. Salo was again the second goaltender and his team won by a score of 8-5.
7. Perhaps one of the lowest points in Salo's career was a quarterfinal match during his international play for team Sweden, in 2002. He conceded a soft goal off of his helmet to have his team eliminated from the competition. What lucky team managed to pull off the unthinkable, by defeating Sweden?

Answer: Belarus

The goal occurred during the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, with less than three minutes remaining in the third period. The shot was taken from more than 70 feet out from the ice. The puck bounced off of Salo's mask, then off of his back into the net. Belarus won the game 4-3 to advance past the quarterfinals. Salo's NHL career ended just one season after the incident, possibly due to the goal in question.
8. During an arbitration hearing with his draft team what did general manager Mike Milbury make Salo do?

Answer: Break down in tears

The meeting between the two occurred before Salo was traded in the 1998-99 season. Apparently, something that the ex-general manager said deeply affected Salo. Regardless, it did not effect his play as an Edmonton Oiler.
9. While still playing for the very team that drafted him, Tommy Salo decided to get into a fight in a heated rivalry game against the New York Rangers. Salo went to attack a Rangers player before one particular goalie stopped him. Who was the other goalie?

Answer: Dan Cloutier

In that particular game, Tommy Salo of the Islanders decided to ambush a player from the Rangers who was already fighting one of Salo's teammates. Dan Cloutier, offended by that, defended his teammates by fighting Salo. Cloutier pummelled Salo and won the match without question. After beating Salo, Cloutier went on to taunt the NY Islanders bench.
10. Despite relatively respectable regular season records, the post-season never fared well for the Swedish goaltender. What was the furthest that Tommy Salo ever made it in the post-season as a starting goaltender?

Answer: Quarter-finals

Tommy Salo made it to the post-season four times in his career, as a starter. Every single time he and his team were defeated by the Dallas Stars. The first time his team was defeated was in four games in the 1998-99 season, the second was in five games in the 1999-00 season, the third was in six games in the 2000-01 season, and the final time was also in six games in the 2002-03 season.

The last playoff game he ever played was a 5-2 losing effort for Colorado against the San Jose Sharks. He replaced David Aebischer for the last 27 minutes of that game stopping seven shots and gaining two minutes in penalties.
