Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the Seahawks record in 2006?

Answer: 9-7

The final regular season record was certainly disappointing, especially after the Seahawks had gone 13-3 in 2005 on their way to the Super Bowl. But as was alluded to in the introduction, major injuries to Matt Hasselbeck, Shaun Alexander, and a host of others tested the team's resolve to the limit.
2. Matt Hasselbeck threw for what ratio of touchdowns to interceptions in 2006?

Answer: 18-15

This was certainly a down year for Hasselbeck in regards to his statistics. He completed just 56.6% of his passes, down from 65.5% in 2005.
3. Shaun Alexander led the Seahawks in rushing yards in 2006.

Answer: True

It was definitely an off year for Alexander as well in 2006, as he missed six games due to an injured foot. He led the Seahawks with 896 yards rushing, but that was way down from his MVP season in 2005, when he rushed for 1,880 yards. Maurice Morris did his best to fill the void left by the injured Alexander, rushing for 604 yards in 2006.
4. In how many games did Matt Hasselbeck throw for 300 yards or more in the 2006 regular season?

Answer: 0

Hasselbeck's biggest passing day was for 268 yards against the St. Louis Rams in week six. He averaged 203.5 yards passing per game in '06. By comparison, he did only have one 300+ yards passing game in 2005. He threw for 3,459 yards that season, compared to 2,442 yards in 2006, averaging 216.2 yards passing per game in 2005.
5. What was the score of the Seahawks' thrilling victory over the Dallas Cowboys in their divisional playoff matchup?

Answer: 21-20

This game was one for the ages. The Cowboys had marched down field and were in position to kick a chip-shot 19-yard field goal with 1:19 left in the fourth quarter. The score would have given Dallas a 23-21 lead, and forced the Seahawks to try to get down the field to try to score either a game-winning touchdown or field goal with about a minute left in the game.

Instead, quarterback Tony Romo botched the hold for the kick, having to get up and run to try to either get a first down or a touchdown. Jordan Babineaux tackled him just before he reached the first-down marker and the ball was turned over to the Seahawks.
6. Which defensive player for the Minnesota Vikings rolled into Matt Hasselbeck's knee, knocking him out of the game, and causing him to miss four more games?

Answer: E.J. Henderson

The injury occurred early in the third quarter of the week seven game. The Seahawks lost the game 31-13, ending their 12-game home winning streak. Backup quarterback Seneca Wallace started the next four games in place of Hasselbeck, going 2-2.
7. Which Seahawks defensive player led the team in interceptions in 2006?

Answer: Ken Hamlin

The Seahawks were woefully deficient in the interception department in 2006. Hamlin led the team with just three picks.
8. What percentage of successful field goal attempts did kicker Josh Brown have in 2006?

Answer: 80.6%

Brown missed 6 field goals in 2006, going 25 for 31. What he may have lacked in success rate though, he more than made up for with several game-winning kicks.
9. What was the Seahawks record against their NFC West divisional rivals in 2006?

Answer: 3-3

The Seahawks went 3-3 against their division in 2006, a year after going 6-0 against them. This was due in part to the number of injuries suffered by Seattle in '06, as well as significantly improved play by the other teams in the division, specifically San Francisco and Arizona.
10. How many combined games were missed by Matt Hasselbeck, Shaun Alexander, and Darrell Jackson due to injuries in 2006?

Answer: 13

Luckily, Hasselbeck and Alexander were back in action when Jackson went down for the last three games of the season. The Seahawks were loaded with talent at the wide receiver position, but they still missed Jackson, the team's number one receiver. Hasselbeck missed four games, Alexander missed six, and Jackson missed three.
11. The Seahawks led the New York Giants by a score of 35-3 at halftime of their week 3 matchup. The Seahawks won that game. What was the final score?

Answer: 42-30

The Seahawks were lights out in the first half of this game with Hasselbeck throwing four of his five touchdown passes. But the Giants came roaring back in the second half, making the game interesting. But in the end, the lead the Seahawks had built proved to be insurmountable.
12. What was the Seahawks' longest winning streak of the season in 2006?

Answer: 3

The Seahawks started the season with three straight wins, beating Detroit, Arizona, and the Giants. They had two other two-game winning streaks during the season.
13. Matt Hasselbeck had more rushing yards than Seneca Wallace in 2006.

Answer: False

Hasselbeck rushed 18 times for 110 yards, for an average of 6.1 yards per carry. Wallace had 12 rushes for 122 yards, 10.2 yards per carry.
14. Deion Branch and D.J. Hackett each had four touchdown receptions in 2006. Which other receiver also had four?

Answer: Jerramy Stevens

Stevens, Branch, and Hackett tied for second on the team with the four touchdown receptions. They were all well behind the team leader in that category as Darrell Jackson had 10.
15. How many sacks did the Seahawks record against the Oakland Raiders in their snowy November 6th game at Qwest Field?

Answer: 9

The Seahawks' defense dominated the weak offensive line of the Raiders in a 16-0 shutout win on Monday Night Football. Craig Terrill led the team with three sacks on the night, and the team recorded five of their nine sacks of quarterback Andrew Walter in the first quarter.
