The SuperSonics joined the NBA in the 1967-68 season as an expansion team.

Then followed Seattle Pilots in 1969 (MLB), Seattle Seahawks 1976 (NFL) and Seattle Mariners 1977 (MLB).

The Kingdome was opened for sports on March 27, 1976, for the MLB Mariners and the NFL Seahawks. It closed in January 2000; and was demolished two months later.
