1. 2000 - Mathew Stevens

The 2000 World Snooker Championship was played from 15 April to 1 May 2000. Mark Williams defeated fellow Welshman Matthew Stevens 18-16 in the final. Williams became only the third Welshman to win the World Snooker Championship, after Ray Reardon (six titles 1970 to 1978) and Terry Griffiths (1979).

The 2001 World Snooker Championship was played from 21 April to 7 May 2001. Ronnie O'Sullivan won his first title by defeating 1998 champion John Higgins 18-14.
3. 2002 - Stephen Hendry
Answer: Peter Ebdon
The 2002 World Snooker Championship was played between 20 April and 6 May 2002. Peter Ebdon won his first title with an 18-17 win over seven time champion Stephen Hendry (who won seven of the 10 titles 1990 to 1999). This was his ninth and final appearance in a World Championship final (he retired in 2012).
4. 2003 - Ken Doherty

The 2003 World Snooker Championship was played between 19 April and 5 May 2003. Mark Williams won his second title with an 18-16 win over Ken Doherty. Doherty had previously won the title himself in 1997, and was runner-up in 1998.
5. 2004 - Graeme Dott
Answer: Ronnie O'Sullivan
The 2004 World Snooker Championship was held from 17 April to 3 May 2004. Despite trailing 5-0 in the final, O'Sullivan put on a fine display to win comfortably 18-8 against Graeme Dott to claim his second title.
6. 2005 - Matthew Stevens

The 2005 World Snooker Championship was played between 16 April and 2 May 2005. This was the last tournament to be sponsored by Embassy due to new legislation preventing tobacco advertising in the UK. Shaun Murphy was 150-1 to win at the start of the tournament, but defied the odds to become the first qualifier to win the tournament since Terry Griffiths in 1979.
He defeated Matthew Stevens 18-16 in the final to win his first title.
7. 2006 - Peter Ebdon

The 2006 World Snooker Championship was played fro 15 April to 1 May 2006. Graeme Dott defeated 2002 champion Peter Ebdon 18-14 to claim his first title. Both players in the final were renowned for being fairly slow players, and as such the final finished at 12.52am BST on 2 May, which became the latest finish to a final.
8. 2007 - Mark Selby

The 2007 World Snooker Championship was played between 21 April and 7 May 2007. John Higgins won his second title (his first was 1998), with an 18-13 victory over Mark Selby in the final. During his semi final match against Stephen Maguire, John Higgins made the 1000th century break to have been made at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, which had hosted the tournament since 1977.
9. 2008 - Ali Carter

The 2008 World Snooker Championship was held from 19 April to 5 May 2008. Ronnie O'Sullivan won his third title with an 18-8 victory over Ali Carter. For the first time in the history of the tournament, both finalists had made maximum breaks earlier in the tournament. O'Sullivan made his in the second round against Mark Williams, while Carter's maximum came just one day later, in his quarter-final win over Peter Ebdon.
10. 2009 - Shaun Murphy

The 2009 World Snooker Championship was played from 18 April to 4 May 2009. John Higgins won his third title with an 18-9 victory over 2005 winner Shaun Murphy. The final saw Michaela Tabb make history by becoming the first woman to referee a World Snooker Championship final.
