At the age of 23 he made his England debut against Brazil in a 2-0 win on 10th June, 1984 and went on to win 5 caps. Who is this player?

Answer: Clive Allen

Clive Allen was born in Stepney, England on 20th May, 1961. At the age of 17 he made his QPR debut, and two years later signed for Arsenal. His dream took a backwards step however, as he only stayed at Highbury for 2 months before Crystal Palace bought him for one season. 3 more years back at QPR followed, and then a big transfer to Tottenham in 1984 set him on the road to fame. 60 goals in 105 League games for Spurs saw him transfer to Bordeaux in 1988. Allen wasn't a big success abroad, and moved to Manchester CIty in 1989, followed by Chelsea (1991-92), West Ham United (1992-94), Millwall (1994-95), and he ended his career at Carlisle United in 1995.

In total, Allen played 388 League games, and scored 181 goals.

2. This former England international defender was born in Nottingham in 1956 and his first club was Nottingham Forest. He won 2 European Cups with the club in 1979 & 1980. Other clubs included Arsenal and Manchester United. He was the first black footballer to represent England. Who is he?

Answer: Viv Anderson

Viv Anderson received 30 England caps during his illustrious career. Between 1974-84, he played 328 League games for Forest, scoring 15 goals in the process before moving to Arsenal. A dream move to Manchester United followed, but he only managed 54 League games for the Red Devils between 1987-91. From there, he moved to Sheffield Wednesday until 1993, and a player/manager role at Barnsley followed.

After leaving Barnsley in 1994 he moved to Middlesbrough, and played 2 games for the club before being made Bryan Robson's assistant manager at the club.

In total, Anderson played 763 games and scored 56 goals in all competitions throughout his career.

3. I was born in Tulua, Colombia in 1969. I made my professional debut in 1991 for Nacional de Medellin, but was quickly snapped up by Parma in Italy within a year. In 1996, I played in England's Premiership for 2 years before returning to Italy until 1999 when I moved to Brazil. My real surname is Hinestroza. Who am I?

Answer: Faustino Asprilla

Faustino Hernan Asprilla Hinestroza was born on 10th November, 1969. He made his debut for Nacional de Medellin on 1st October, 1991, and moved to Parma in 1992, where he scored 25 Serie A goals in 84 games before moving to Newcastle United in 1996. 'Tino' never really set Tyneside on fire with his 9 goals in 48 games, and two years later was on his way back to Parma.

Another short spell followed before going back to his native South America, and Palmeiras in Brazil.

4. Born in Sonnino, Italy in 1955, this striker played for Inter Milan for the best part of his career. He was also part of the Italian national team between 1980-88, and scored a goal in the 1982 World Cup final. Who is he?

Answer: Alessandro Altobelli

Altobelli began his career with Latina, before moving to Brescia in 1974. 26 goals in 76 games earned him a transfer to Inter Milan where he stayed until 1988, scoring 128 goals in 317 games for the club. Juventus was his next team, but only for one season.

After playing for the Turin giants, he played bit part roles for Brescia (1989-90), and Lecce (1990-93). He played 61 times for Italy and scored 25 goals, none more famous than the one on 11th July, 1982 in the World Cup final, which Italy won 3-1 against West Germany.

5. I was born on 10th October, 1966 in Romford, England. I played with one club throughout my whole career in England's top flight division. I won 66 caps for England, and captained my country also. I retired from professional football in 2002. Who am I?

Tony Adams made his Arsenal debut at the age of 17 on 30th January, 1984. He played a total of 673 games in the heart of defence for the Gunners, and scored 49 goals. His England debut came against Spain in a 4-3 victory on 18th February, 1987. Adams played his last game for Arsenal in the 2002 FA Cup final, and helped the Gooners to a 2-0 win over Chelsea.

6. This wizard of midfield was born in 1952 in Argentina. His playing career started at Huracan. He moved to the club that will forever be associated with his name shortly afterwards. This man also played for Blackburn Rovers, Paris St. Germain and Queens Park Rangers. After his playing career was over, he managed Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur to name a few. Who is he?

Osvaldo 'Ossie' Ardiles was one of the greatest players to grace the stages at White Hart Lane, even though he always pronounced the club's name as 'Tottingham'. A partnership with Glenn Hoddle at Spurs gave his two FA Cup winners medals and a UEFA Cup win. Ardiles played 238 games for Spurs, and 42 times for his country.

7. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1956, this centre forward began his career with Clyde. It was at Tottenham Hotspur where he achieved his greatest accolades, and soon moved on to the sunny heights of Barcelona and Spain before returning to the UK. Who is he?

Archibald began his working life as a mechanic before Clyde snapped him up. It wasn't long before his talent shone through, and he was soon on his way to Aberdeen. The year 1980 saw him move to Tottenham, where he won the UEFA Cup in 1984. A transfer to Barcelona followed, but it wasn't long before he was back home with Blackburn Rovers, then Hibernian, Espanyol, St. Mirren, Reading, Fulham and Ayr United. Archibald scored 4 goals in 27 games for Scotland.

8. This Argentinian international defender was born on 12th April, 1973. Nicknamed 'Rat�n' or 'Mouse', he made his debut for Ferrocaril Oeste in 1992. Spells in Italy and Spain followed shortly after. He played in two World Cups for Argentina. Who is he?

Roberto Fabian Ayala moved to Napoli in Italy in 1995, and instantly became a solid part of their defence. After 1 goal in 87 games, he moved on to AC Milan, but only managed 24 games in two seasons before Valencia moved in for him. Ayala scored the penalty that put Argentina virtually through to the 1/4 finals of the World Cup in 1998, before Carlos Roa saved David Batty's spot-kick.

9. Born on 6th October, 1967, this towering Swede made his professional debut with IFK Eskilstuna in the 1985-86 season. In 1989, he moved to IFK Gothenburg. After much travelling playing for clubs in Belgium and France, he settled in Italy with Bologna, then Lazio. In 2000, he signed for Fenerbahce. Perhaps the most well known of facts were his 5 goals in the 1994 World Cup finals, where he helped Sweden to a 3rd place finish. Who is he?

Answer: Kennet Andersson

Although not as prolific infront of goal as some, Andersson had the height to worry the best of defenders. Between 1985-89, he scored 18 goals in 76 games for Eskilstuna. Three seasons with Gothenburg followed with 29 goals in 63 games, before playing for KV Mechelen in Belgium, Lille in France, then Norrkoping (Sweden), and back to France with Caen in the 1994-95 season. 12 goals in 33 games for Bari earned him a transfer to Bologna, where he played 114 games and scored 33 goals.

In the 2000-01 season, he regained a little of that scoring touch, when he netted 11 goals in 29 games for Fenerbahce in Turkey. Andersson's international career was a little better than his domestic one, as he played 78 times, scoring 31 goals in the process.

10. 30th November, 1965 was the day I came into the world. I played in my native country of Brazil until moving to Benfica, Portugal in 1989. One year later, I was playing my football in the Italian capital. I am a World Cup winner, and won 79 caps for my country. Who am I?

Answer: Aldair

After leaving Flamengo in 1989, Aldair moved to Benfica. Only a handful of games later, and he was on his way to Roma in Italy where he stayed for the rest of his career. Aldair Nascimento dos Santos played in three World Cups for Brazil, most famously the 1994 final, in which Brazil beat Italy on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
