Detroit Auto Club finished 3rd in the four team IHL the first year of the league. In the playoffs, the DAC defeated regular season champion Detroit Bright Goodyears 2 games to 1 in the finals.

The Mercurys won back-to-back titles in 1951 and 1952, defeating Grand Rapids 4-1 in '51, and 4-2 in '52.
