It was Kansas City's second appearance in the big game after losing Super Bowl I to the Packers. They would be victorious with the arm of Len Dawson, the legs of Mike Garrett, and the foot of Jan Stenerud.
2. This 1971 Major League team saw four pitchers on their roster win 20 games in the season. Which team was this?

Answer: Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles had four 20-game winners in the names of Mike Cuellar, Pat Dobson, Dave McNally, and Jim Palmer. McNally won 21 in the season. They carried the team to the World Series, but lost to the Pirates four games to three.
3. NBA fans in 1972 saw this giant of a player be the first to score 30,000 career points. Who was this record-setting center?

Answer: Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt played from 1959-1973, giving his services to the Warriors, 76ers, and Lakers. In the 1962 season, he scored 100 points in a game. Chamberlain won the NBA MVP Award four times in his career, and retired with a then record 31,419 career points.
4. In what was deemed as an unreachable record, which 1973 California Angel broke the season strikeout record of Sandy Koufax, by striking out 383 batters in the season?

Answer: Nolan Ryan

Ryan broke the record by one strikeout, striking out the final batter of his 1973 season. Nolan would end up as the runner-up to the Cy Young Award to Jim Palmer of the Orioles. It was the closest that Ryan came to winning the Cy Young.
5. The 20th LPGA golf tournament was held in June 1974. Which golfer won this tournament for the second time in her career?

Answer: Sandra Haynie

Haynie won her first LPGA Championship in 1962. In addition to her title in 1974, she also won the U.S. Women's Open. Sandra won 42 tournaments including four majors during her career.

Answer: Ali - Frazier

This was the third match between the great Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The 15-round bout saw Ali TKO Frazier in the 15th round. The fight took place in the Philippines.
7. On December 5, 1976, NFL fans watched the first running back to rush for over 200 yards in one game. Who was this speedster?

Answer: O.J. Simpson

Simpson was a Buffalo Bill in eight seasons in the NFL. In the game against the Dolphins, O.J. rushed for 203 yards with the help of one 75-yard touchdown run. The Bills would still lose the game 45-27, and end the season with a 2-12 record.
8. Which racing great won his fourth Indianapolis 500 in 1977?

Answer: A.J. Foyt

Foyt first drank the milk in 1961 with Bignotti-Bowes Racing. He won two in 1964 and 1967 with Ansted-Thompson Racing. Under his own A.J. Foyt Enterprises name, he won his fourth in 1977.
9. Which Swedish player won the 1978 French Open tennis title?

Answer: Bjorn Borg

The French Open is the second of the four grand slam tennis tournaments. In an eight-year run, Borg won 11 grand slam singles titles. In addition to him winning four consecutive French Open titles, he won five consecutive Wimbledon singles crowns also. Borg defeated Guillermo Vilas 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 in the final.
10. The National Hockey League allowed the expansion of four new teams in the 1979-80 season. They were the Hartford Whalers, Quebec Nordiques, Winnipeg Jets, and which other team?

The Whalers were the Carolina Hurricanes in 2011. The Nordiques in 2011 were the Colorado Avalanche. The Winnipeg Jets were the Phoenix Coyotes in 2011. The Oilers won four Stanley Cups with the number 99 of the great Wayne Gretzky.
