1. Who coached the Chargers to more victories in the 20th century than any other head coach?

Answer: Sid Gillman

Gillman coached the Chargers all the way through the AFL days of the 1960s, except for the last five games of the 1969 season. He then coached them for the first ten games of 1971. He finished his career with a win/loss record of 87-57-6. Don Coryell was second, winning 72 games from 1978-1986.
2. Whose single game passing yardage team record did quarterback Dan Fouts tie, when he passed for 444 yards in a 41-37 win over the San Francisco 49ers on December 11, 1982?

Answer: His own

Fouts equalled his own record which he had set two years earlier in a 44-7 win over the New York Giants. At the time of his retirement in 1987, Fouts held many major NFL passing records and virtually every Chargers passing record.
3. Which of these players set a Chargers team record in 1981, with five receiving touchdowns in a single game?

Answer: Kellen Winslow

Winslow accomplished this amazing feat in a 55-21 Chargers victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Oakland Raiders. Dan Fouts' six total touchdown passes that day also set a team record.

Known mainly as a kicker for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1971-1978, Gerela kicked one field goal in seven attempts for the Chargers in 1979, then retired. Lydell Mitchell's best years were spent with the Baltimore Colts from 1972-1977 but he spent 1978 and 1979 with the Chargers.

After spending 17 years at quarterback for the Colts, Johnny Unitas played in five games for the Chargers in 1973. Linebacker Monte Coleman spent his entire 16 year career with the Washington Redskins. At the time of his retirement in 1994, Coleman had played in more games than any other Redskin.

Tomlinson quickly became one of the best running backs in the NFL. Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer said Tomlinson was the greatest running back he's ever seen play.
