UK Speedway For Beginners Trivia Quiz

This is a quiz about my favourite sport, speedway. I've made the questions pretty easy, so even if you know nothing about speedway, you can still take a guess! This quiz refers to British speedway. American speedway is a completely different sport.

3. On what type of fuel do speedway bikes run?

Anyone who has ever been to a speedway meeting will recognise the distinctive smell of the bikes.
4. There were only two types of engine which were widely used by speedway riders. One was GM. What was the other?

Answer: Jawa

One is not necessarily better than the other; apparently it's just a matter of personal preference.
5. What type of surface does a speedway track have?

Although speedway takes place in all of these countries, the sport first began in New South Wales, Australia, when Johnny Hoskins came up with the idea of staging motorcycle racing during agricultural shows.

The bikes race in an counter-clockwise direction.
12. The protective race suits worn by most riders are known as kevlars. What are kevlars made of?

Strangely enough, kevlars are made of kevlar. Leather and nylon can also be used to make race suits.
13. Which of these countries does not have a recognised league structure?

Answer: Greece

Poland, Sweden, and Denmark, along with Britain, are four of the leading speedway countries. Other countries where speedway takes place include Germany, Australia, Norway, Italy, Slovenia, Finland, and the Czech Republic.
