The Eagles lost Super Bowl XXXIX, but they put up a good fight against the Patriots. New England only edged them out by 3 points in a 24-21 win.

They played in their first bowl game in 2005, but lost. Their first win came in 2006 at the PapaJohns.com Bowl by defeating ECU.

Fusina was the Penn State quarterback from midway through the 1976 season through the end of his senior year in 1978. Fusina was the runner-up in his senior year to Oklahoma running back Billy Sims, who would later star for the Detroit Lions. Fusina, though a splendid college quarterback, did not find as much success in the NFL.

He did, however, lead the Philadelphia Stars to the first champisonhip of the rival USFL.

The most famous Penn State Fiesta Bowl win was the 14-7 victory over number one Miami (Fla) that capped the 1986 season (and the 100th year of Penn State football), with Penn State's second National Championship.
