1. According to Gunn, where was Angel at the start of the episode?

Answer: Sri Lanka

We first saw Angel fighting with the demon monks. Both Gunn and Angel conclude he'd have been better off going to elsewhere to deal with stuff. Angel soon returned with gifts for Cordy, Wes and Gunn.

2. Why did Angel go on his retreat to begin with?

Answer: To deal with the death of Buffy

Buffy died at the end of 'Buffy' season 5. The last scene of 'Angel' season 2 is Willow coming to tell Angel what happened.

3. Where did Gunn, and then later Angel, say he should have gone to deal with his grief?

Answer: Vegas

Season four would reveal things about Vegas to show it isn't such a great place.

Angel staked Elisabeth, who recognized him just as she ashed out. James had his heart removed, and then died when the time expired on his immortality. Ron Melendez played James and Kate Norby played Elizabeth. Darla was seen in this episode, both in the past and present.

Answer: Darla

Vampires are not supposed to be able to get pregnant, especially not from another vampire. Darla was trying to undo her mystical pregnancy, but had no luck.
