Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Growing Pains" lasted seven seasons and was one of the most popular shows during its time. Maggie Malone Seaver and her husband sure did have some tough times raising their three children. What was the name of that husband, anyway?

Answer: Dr. Jason Seaver

Dr. Jason Seaver was played by Alan Thicke, while his wife was played by Joanna Kerns. The show lasted from 1985 - 1992 and was nominated for three Golden Globes.
2. Although not technically "together" for much of the show, Tony Micelli wins over his female employer on "Who's the Boss?". His daughter was named Samantha, but what was the name of his employer?

Answer: Angela

This show was originally scripted to end with Tony and Angela getting married, but was rewritten to have them break up. The series ends with Tony going to Angela's house to reapply for the housekeeping job, similar to how the show began.
3. Fred Savage played the lovable child, Kevin, in the five year run of "The Wonder Years". What was the name of the couple which raised the Arnold children during this series set in the 1960's?

Answer: Jack and Norma

This one may have been a tough one because the children of the show were always the main focus. As a matter of fact, there were 16 episodes in which Jack Arnold didn't have a role and 20 episodes where Norma Arnold didn't make an appearance.
4. "Married with Children" produced a number of actors and actresses who continue their successful careers. Al Bundy holds the job of shoe salesman, father, and husband to whom?

Answer: Peggy

"Married with Children" ran for 10 years and was one of the longest running shows to never win an Emmy. The parts of Al and Peggy Bundy were originally offered to Sam Kinison and Roseanne Barr.
5. One of my favorite sitcoms, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", launched the career of the very talented Will Smith. Although not Will's mother and father, who are the two people in charge of the Banks' household?

Answer: Philip and Vivian

While Will Smith has had an unbelievable successful career, he can't claim to be one of TV guides "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time"! That honor belongs to the character Philip Banks, who came in at #34 on the list.
6. "Home Improvement" was another one of my favorites. Jill Taylor sure did have a tough time raising those three kids, and her accident prone husband didn't make things any easier. What was the name of this certain "tool man"?

Answer: Tim

Tim Allen's character was the host of a show titled "Tool Time" which used the live studio audience as the prop audience for "Tool Time". Students from colleges and universities around Michigan would send Tim sweatshirts from their respective schools, which Tim always wore on air.
7. While not the parents of the three girls in "Full House", Uncle Jesse and his girlfriend/wife are always there for the girls throughout the show's eight seasons. Who was this talk show host who Jesse eventually marries?

Answer: Becky

This show was originally slated to be titled "House of Comics" and was to be directed toward a more adult audience. The show was changed to be more family appropriate once the directors saw how successful other family sitcoms in the time had become.
8. Steve Urkel made the nine seasons of "Family Matters" a whole lot of fun. A lot of credit had to be given to Harriet Winslow and her husband for putting up with his constant debacles. Who was the husband which Urkel affectionately referred to as "big guy"?

Answer: Carl

Carl was played by Reginald VelJohnson and appeared in movies such as "Die Hard" and "Die Hard 2". The character of Steve Urkel was only supposed to make one appearance on the show but the response was so great, the directors decided to keep him as a regular character.
9. "Step by Step" was about two single parents, each with three children, who spontaneously get married while on vacation. Once the Lambert and Foster families were united, there were certainly no lack of conflicts. Frank Lambert was played by Patrick Duffy, but who did Suzanne Somers play?

Answer: Carol Foster

Patrick Duffy was also on the TV show "Dallas". It was written in his contract that he would get a role in another TV show after "Dallas" was canceled, and "Step by Step" was actually created for Patrick Duffy. Suzanne Somers also played Chrissy on "Three's Company".
10. Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt starred in the seven year sitcom "Mad About You". They play a married couple living out life in New York City. Paul Reiser's character goes by the same first name, while Helen Hunt's character does not. What was the name of Helen Hunt's character on this show?

Answer: Jamie

Helen Hunt was vying with Teri Hatcher for the role of Jamie Buchman, and won the role on the last day of auditions. Throughout the show, there was a lot of correspondence with the sitcoms "Friends" and "Seinfeld". Lisa Kudrow was a main character on "Mad About You" before moving to "Friends", and Kramer from "Seinfeld" made a few guest appearances renting Paul's old apartment.
