Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A semi easy one to start off with, what was Bester's first name?

Answer: Alfred

After his parents were killed, the child we would come to know as Bester was renamed by his adoptive father after a mid-twentieth century Science Fiction author, Alfred Bester, whose novel "The Stars my Destination" was about a low intelligence psionic master who was marooned in space and promised revenge on the ship that left him there to die ("Vorga, I kill you filthy!").

Not a very well known book, it was the first to coin the phrase "Jaunt", meaning to psionically teleport oneself, or others, which in turn has become the basis for such things as a Stephen King short story "The Long Jaunt", and a low budget cable children's science fiction show, that ran on Nickleoden, called "The Tomorrow People". (Source: "The Rise of the Psi-Corps", the Bester Chronicles, book 1.)
2. Which actor's audition for the show consisted of only one question and answer?

Answer: Jerry Doyle

When given his audition Jerry was asked "Which part are you here to audition for?" He looked the cast director in the eye and said, "I'm here to audition for the part I'm going to get." The auditioners looked at each other, said "That's Garibaldi", and hired him on the spot. (Source, The "Babylon 5" transitional information show in between the fourth and fifth seasons, when "Babylon 5" changed over from syndication to TNT.)
3. What is the false name that Vir Cotto uses to rescue Narns while he was stationed on Minbar?

Answer: Abrahamo Lincolni

In the episode "Sic Transit Vir" we learn that Vir has been arranging for Narns, A total of 2,000, to be recorded as shipped to the Centauri Homeworld, and killed. In reality the Narns were being sent to various other worlds for medical treatment and sanctuaty.
4. In the episode "Rising Star" Delenn, as a member of the Advisory Council, offered what piece of new technology to Earth, should Earth join the Alliance?

Answer: Anti-Gravity

She points out, quite correctly, that Anti-Gravity will allow Earth to build more efficient starships making trade and exploration easier. I never could figure out why they didn't steal the Anti-Gravity from the Shadow ship they had access too, since they had time to copy it's advanced outer hull.
5. What is Garibaldi's original password to the Babylon 5 computer system?

Answer: Peek-a-boo

As Garabaldi says, "Would you have guessed it?"
6. The second generation of Starfury, with the elongated nosecone and retractable atmospheric manuvering vanes located just exterior to the engines, were known by what name?

Answer: Thunderbolt

Deployed primarily on starships, as opposed to bases, the Thunderbolt also carried a heavier grade of laser cannon.
7. Zooty, of Rebo and Zooty, was said only to have ever spoken without "The Machine" once. What did he supposedly say?

Answer: Why

On leaving the station he whispered in Sheriden's ear. Sheridan said that he said "Because it tells me too." ("Hey Zooty, Zoot Zoot!")
8. According to the Pilot movie "The Gathering", and the first season introduction, how much does Babylon 5 weigh?

Answer: 2,500,000 tons

The station in also five miles long, and over a quarter of a mile in diameter.
9. In the episode "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars" what is the name of the Ranger who is pretending to be a monk while helping to guide the rebuilding of Earth?

Answer: Alwyn Macomber

This is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series, mainly because of the detail to attention. If you watch closely on the middle section of the left side of the screen, every time the view changes a small yellow Roman Numeral appears, indicating which of the hidden cameras is recording that particular view. Kudos to the FX team. Brother Macomber is played by Roy Brocksmith who is probably best known for playing the Zakdorn Strategy Master in the "Star Trek:TNG" episode "Peak Performance".
10. Finally, a relatively easy one. Bill Mumy, who plays Lennier, had a part on an old Science Fiction series. Who did he play?

Answer: Will Robinson

He has dozens of other credits to his name, including several appearances on "The Twilight Zone" and "Bewitched", and such movies as "The Wizard of Bagdad", "Pappillion", and "Three Wishes". (WWW.BillMumy.com)
