Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the very beginning of the series, Bruce Wayne quits the superhero business. Why does he do so?

Answer: He was forced to violate his vow to never use a gun.

In the very first scene of the show, we see an aged Bruce Wayne fighting crime as usual. However, when a villain gets the drop on him, he's forced into using a gun to save his own life...something he vowed never to do. As a result, he decides to give up crimefighting.
2. What drove Terry McGinnis (the new Batman) take up the role of the new Dark Knight?

Answer: He stole the futuristic Batman suit to get revenge on his father's killer.

When Terry McGinnis randomly stumbled upon the Batcave, he saw a golden opportunity to get revenge for his dad, who had recently been killed by men hired by Terry Powers, Bruce Wayne's business partner.

Interesting side note: the option about the gymnast? That would the be the origin of Dick Grayson, better known as the first Robin.
3. Which of the following celebrities did not lend their voice to "Batman Beyond"?

Answer: George Eads

Gary Cole was the voice of Zeta before Diedrich Bader took over the role.

William H. Macy (one of my favorite actors, by the way) was the voice of Aaron, a young man who falls in love with Batman's enemy Inque. Aaron meets with quite an interesting fate.

The late John Ritter lent his voice to Dr. David Wheeler, a doctor working in the "detention center" where so many of Terry's friends went. In his obituary, that specific role was mentioned, which I found very interesting.

While George Eads, of "CSI" fame, has done voicework before (he was the voice of Captain Atom in an episode of "Justice League Unlimited"), he did not lend his voice to "Batman Beyond."
4. Which "Boy Meets World" star voiced Terry McGinnis?

Answer: Will Friedle

Before voicing Terry, Will Friedle was the incredibly dumb Eric on "Boy Meets World."
5. "Batman Beyond" crossed over with a handful of other DC animation shows. Which show did it NOT cross over with?

Answer: "Teen Titans"

In "The Zeta Project", the futuristic Batman showed up when Bruce thought that Zeta was causing harm to people. Later that day, a "Batman Beyond" aired in which Zeta (the shiny new Diedrich Bader-voiced Zeta) came to Gotham City.

"Batman Beyond" crossed with "Justice League Unlimited" twice: once in part two of the episode "The Once and Future Thing", and once in the season two finale "Epilogue".

In the crossover episode of "Static Shock" (which aired after "Batman Beyond" left the air), Static got thrown 40 years into the future, where he met the futuristic Batman.

"Teen Titans", in its 65-episode run, did not once cross over with "BB".
6. Batman's #1 arch-nemesis, the Joker, rears his ugly head in the aptly titled "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker". The original Joker is long dead, of course...so how is he able to come back?

Answer: He hid in the body of Tim Drake (a former Robin).

One of the Joker's greatest schemes was to mold Tim Drake in his image, which caused a great rift between Tim and Bruce. He later possessed Tim's mind, causing him to inexplicably transform into the Clown Prince of Crime.
7. Terry's origins are quite heavily explained in the "Justice League Unlimited" episode "Epilogue". Who oversaw the project to ensure that Batman would live on?

Answer: Amanda Waller

Amanda Waller was the Justice League's liaison with the U.S. Government for a while, and a good friend of Bruce Wayne's. When his health began to take a turn for the worse, she gave Terry's dad a "flu shot" that overrode his DNA with Bruce's.
8. Who discovers Terry's secret identity (disregarding the "Justice League Unlimited" episode "Epilogue")?

Answer: His classmate, Max

Terry's classmate Max is able to figure out that he is indeed Batman. At first, though, she thinks he's a member of the Jokerz (a gang).

In one episode, he tells his mom and brother that he's Batman, but they think he's kidding.

Now remember, I said DISREGARDING "Epilogue". It's obvious that sometime between the ending of "Batman Beyond" and the events of "Epilogue" that he told Dana.
9. Bruce Wayne never once fights in the series.

Answer: False

He fights four times, by my count: Twice in the first episode (once as Batman and once against the Jokerz), once to save Batman from Inque and Aaron, and another in Ra's Al Ghul's immortality pits.
10. Which of the following regular "Batman" figures is not once mentioned in the series?

Answer: Scarecrow

Scarecrow is never mentioned.

Selina Kyle (Catwoman) is mentioned in passing in one episode.

Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) is fairly frequently mentioned, as Mrs. Gordon took over her father's duties as police commissioner.

Ra's Al Ghul shows up in one episode offering Batman a dip in his immortality pits.
