Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 'Celebrity Vicar', who is Geraldine mistaken for when she is a guest on Terry Wogan's 'Pause for Thought'?

Answer: Alison Moyet

A woman runs up to Geraldine asking for her autograph after listening to Terry Wogan's show. Unbeknown to Geraldine, an Alison Moyet song had been playing directly before her interview. She signs the name anyway, but claims to have suddenly lost her voice when asked to sing on the spot. Darcey Bussell features in this episode.
2. What song are the pianist and cellist playing when David proposes to Geraldine in 'Spring'?

Answer: The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

David proposes to Geraldine in a lurid pink shirt, with 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' being played as he asks for her hand in marriage. They switch to 'Mambo No. 5' when she says 'All right, then.'
3. What is in Mrs Cropley's homemade orange juice?

Answer: Just orange juice - for once

In 'The Easter Bunny', the characters all give something up for lent. Geraldine gives up chocolate, Hugo gives up lustful thoughts, Jim gives up dithering (no 'nononos'), David gives up being mean, and Frank gives up being 'such a pedantic old fart'. Mrs Cropley gives up her crazy recipes, leading to her most normal creation of regular orange juice, although Geraldine does ask if there's any urine in it.
4. What does Hugo call his appearance in the Valentine's Day gala, in which he goes up on stage and recites the song 'Let It Be Me'?

Answer: Item

Hugo's 'item' was deemed the stand-out performance of the gala, which he dedicated to 'lovers everywhere, and particularly to the woman I love. I bless the day I found you, I want my arms around you, now and forever let it be me.' Alice's response was, 'Oh, nice.'
5. When Geraldine is dressed as a rabbit in 'The Easter Bunny' and almost gets shot at by a farmer, where does the sign say the path leads?

Answer: To the windmill

Turville, in Buckinghamshire, is the village used for the exterior scenes of Dibley, and the interior of the church. Turville windmill is on the hill above the village, and was also seen in the film 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. Turville itself has also been a location for 'Goodnight Mister Tom', 'I Capture the Castle', 'Midsomer Murders' and many others.
6. What is Dibley's tried and tested pregnancy test, as used by Alice?

Answer: Weeing on a hamster - if it turns blue, you're pregnant

Alice has done all of these. Her hamster didn't turn blue so she assumed she wasn't pregnant. She ate grass when she was breastfeeding until the midwife explained that she didn't need to. She lay across the doorway of the church kissing Hugo so people had to step over them.

She was worried that by the time she was 50 she'd weigh '82 stone, which is more than a walrus! And I don't want to look like a walrus.'
7. In 'Love and Marriage', what item does Jim NOT pull out of his pocket when he's looking for Hugo and Alice's wedding rings?

Answer: His glasses

Not forgetting the hula hoops they have to use as wedding rings... All I can say is that this is still one of the funniest episodes of any comedy series ever.
8. What are hanging from the mobile on the statue of Baby Geraldine on the village green?

Answer: Teletubbies

When Geraldine is told there has been a 'statue of Geraldine' commissioned, she automatically thinks it will be of her, and tries (not very well) to cover up her shock and disappointment when it is Baby Geraldine that is actually unveiled, complete with a rotating Teletubbies mobile.
9. If Geraldine were to ever meet Delia Smith, what would she like to stuff into 'every available orifice'?

Answer: Cranberries

Geraldine says this to herself as she is crawling from David's (Christmas dinner No. 2) to Alice's (Christmas dinner No. 3).
10. What was the name of Hugo's stuffed owl?

Answer: Patricia

Bruno was David and Hugo's golden retriever, Mrs Standford lived in Dibley and keeps hippopotamuses as pets, and Carrot was the name of multiple budgies owned by Alice that died, but miraculously came back to life the next day - or so Alice thought.
