I think it's really sad that they lessened the symbolic-nightmares-power as the seasons progressed. In the original movie, the nightmares were a very telling part of being a Slayer, which Joss Whedon decided to continue in the pilot episode and some other episodes of "Buffy". Also in the original movie with Kristin Swanson, Buffy would get cramps whenever a vampire was nearby, but they also took that away for the series. I'm kind of glad for that, it makes Buffy's job a little bit more challenging.

It's the first and last time we ever see Xander on a skateboard. Joss Whedon explained that as saying he really did want Xander to be skateboarding more often, but that it required a more complex way of filming the scene, so he decided to stop it.

"Interview with a Vampire" is by Anne Rice, and it's pretty much a contemporary novel which was made into a movie with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt (two hotties in a movie! whoo!). "Dracula" is the original vampire novel by Bram Stoker. The book which Giles gave Buffy is a really thick volume entitled, "Vampyr" which I guess is how they used to spell it. I wonder what's written on it?

We find this out in her passionate speech to Giles after the dead boy is found in a girl's locker. Did you know that the shots between Giles and Buffy were filmed with an interval of months? Because the first time they shot it, Buffy was a bit too angry, so when they watched it again, Joss wanted it re-shot. So they re-shot Buffy's lines with her being less angry and showing vulnerability.

She burned down the gym because it was filled with vampires. I would've thought the school would thank her for that, but apparently, they just didn't get it.

Joss Whedon wanted to emphasize that they were monsters or supernatural beings and not people who were being killed. After all, if he allowed the staked vampires to remain bodies, it's eerily too close to how people die, so he decided that they would turn to dust. Besides, can you imagine the number of bodies found in the morning after Buffy patrols at night?

It's part of a two-episode pilot of the season that lasted 7 seasons. It's really sad that they're going to end it, but I guess all good things must come to an end.
