Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sam Axe asked Michael Westen to help an old Navy Seal buddy of his in the 2007 episode "Unpaid Debts". Who was the client, who ended up in a romantic relationship with Michael's mother?

Answer: Virgil Watkins

"Unpaid Debts" was the sixth episode of the first season of "Burn Notice". Virgil worked as a repo man, and he was having trouble repossessing a speed boat. Michael and Fiona got the boat, but when Michael realized that the customers wanting the boat were dirty cops who were willing to blow up the boat and Virgil, Michael knew that there was more to the story.

He stashed Virgil at his mother's house and was disturbed to find out that they developed a relationship overnight. After solving Virgil's problem, Michael advised him to leave town since there still might be people after him. Virgil returned in the 2008 episode "Rough Seas" to ask for Michael's help in recovering $1 million in medicine stolen from a clinic.
2. The unwitting client in the 2008 episode "Double Booked" was a nurse named Jeannie Anderson who was to be the victim of a hit. Which "dead" colleague of Michael Westen's hired Michael for the contract?

Answer: Larry Sizemore

Larry worked covert ops with Michael during their CIA days and was believed to have been killed during an operation, thus Michael called him "Dead Larry". Larry wanted to join up with Michael and gave him the contract to see if Michael could be ruthless. Of course, Michael instead pretended to kill Jeannie while rescuing her.

It was Jeannie's stepson who tried to have her killed, and Larry ended up killing him before escaping himself. Larry became a recurring character on "Burn Notice" throughout the seasons until his apparent death in the 2011 episode "Dead to Rights", but one never knows with Larry.
3. A recurring character on "Burn Notice", Barry Burkowski became a client in the 2009 episode "Friends Like These", when he needed Michael Westen to track down his client list. What was Barry's usual occupation?

Answer: Money launderer

We met Barry in the pilot episode of "Burn Notice", and he appeared numerous times throughout the series as a resource for Michael for information and for his skills at doctoring financial records. In "Friends Like These", Barry's business ledger was stolen, and when Michael and friends kidnapped a criminal and his girlfriend to find the ledger, they found out that it was the "girlfriend" who was really pulling the strings. Barry also asked for Michael's help in the 2011 episode "No Good Deed" when Barry's brother was having trouble with a computer hacker.

Incidentally, in the "Friends Like These" episode, we were introduced to actress Callie Thorne, who returned to "Burn Notice" in 2010 in the episode "Hot Property" and then went on to have her own series on USA Network, "Necessary Roughness".
4. In the 2009 episode "Hot Spot", Sam Axe asked Michael Westen to help football coach Shawn Martin save one of his players from a local gangster. Which former Dallas Cowboy portrayed Martin?

Answer: Michael Irvin

Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin played the local football coach, who offered Sam tickets to a Miami Dolphins game in exchange for helping one of his players who was the target of a hit by a local gangster. The player, Corey, had beaten up the gangster when the man had attacked his sister. Sam talked Michael Westen into taking the case, with some help from Fiona who had a soft spot for kids. Westen managed to trick the gangster into accidentally trying to assassinate his boss, which resulted in him having to leave town. Thus, Sam and the team got the football tickets from a grateful Coach Martin.
5. Even though she adamantly maintained that she was NOT one of his clients, which associate of Michael Westen's needed his help in the 2009 episode "Long Way Back" when an Irish enemy from the past came after her?

Answer: Fiona Glenanne

In the episode, it appeared that Michael and Fiona's relationship was finished, as Fiona was planning to move back to Ireland, but her brother arrived with news that Thomas O'Neill, an Irish terrorist, was coming for her. It turned out that O'Neill had been tipped off by Tom Strickler, Michael's "handler", who wanted Fiona out of Michael's life. Michael ended up rescuing Fiona after she had been kidnapped, having told Strickler that "Fiona is not my past".
6. No one is entirely good or bad, as we found out in the 2010 episode "Noble Causes" in which Sugar returned to "Burn Notice" to ask Michael Westen to help his mentally-challenged cousin, Dougie. What was Sugar's usual occupation?

Answer: Drug dealer

Sugar (aka Raymond Mosley) first appeared in the pilot episode of "Burn Notice" as Michael Westen's drug-dealing neighbor. Sugar tried to get rid of Michael, but being no match for Michael, it ended up being Sugar who moved out. Despite the bad start to their relationship, Sugar ended up becoming a resource for Michael, and the character appeared in other episodes throughout the series.

In "Noble Causes", Sugar asked Michael to help his cousin who was being used by a gang of thugs. It turned out that they wanted to use him for an armored vehicle heist and planned to kill him. Michael and his team were able to rescue Dougie and instead trap the gang until the police arrived.
7. In the 2010 episode "Fast Friends", Michael Westen was hired by a fellow burned spy to help clear his name; he did not realize that Michael was the one who accidentally burned him. Which client ended up becoming a member of Michael's team?

Answer: Jesse Porter

Jesse Porter first appeared in the beginning of the fourth season, in the 2010 episode "Friends and Enemies" in which he lost his job when Michael broke into a facility and stole information for which Jesse was blamed. After hiring Michael, Jesse joined up with the team since, like Michael, he had nothing else to do as a burned spy. Thus, Michael was forced to try to help Jesse without really doing so. Later that season, Jesse discovered that Michael was the one responsible for his burning in the episode "Blind Spot", but Michael's mother Madeline managed to keep the team together by getting the two of them to settle their differences.
8. Ex-CIA operative Paul Anderson was the target of a Russian hit team, and he needed Michael Westen's help in forcing a congressman to get him into witness protection. Which Florida-based former heartthrob actor portrayed Anderson in the 2010 episode "Past and Future Tense"?

Answer: Burt Reynolds

In the episode, Paul Anderson had been on an illegal 1986 operation in Bogota with Bill Cowley, who was now a congressman with aspirations for higher office. Cowley had framed a general for the botched operation, but Anderson had a ledger signed by Cowley, proving Cowley's involvement.

After Anderson accidentally released information that let the Russians know he was still alive, a hit team came after him, and he wanted to use the ledger to force Cowley into getting him into witness protection. Michael used his mother, Madeline to gain access to Cowley and kidnap him.

When the Russians attacked the house, Michael's team subdued them and then convinced Cowley to take credit in exchange for Anderson getting into witness protection. Burt Reynolds received favorable reviews for his comic timing which worked well in the episode.
9. Sometimes it's hard to know who to trust. In the 2011 episode "Dead to Rights", Michael Westen's client and the client's wife had been kidnapped, but Michael later discovered that the client was the mastermind behind it all. Who was this client/villain?

Answer: Anson Fullerton

"Dead Larry" reappeared in this episode as the kidnapper who was using Anson to get into the British consulate. Michael helped Larry break into the consulate to save Anson, while Fiona and Sam tried to ambush Larry. Fiona shot at him, setting off explosives that apparently killed him but also set off an explosion in the building that killed three guards.

At Michael's loft, Fiona was inconsolable that she was responsible for those deaths. Anson then showed up and revealed that he had recorded Fiona's confession and would use it to get Michael and Fiona to work for him. Anson appeared in several more episodes before being killed in the following season.
10. In the 2012 episode "Means & Ends", the client was a former prison inmate who was having trouble with a dirty cop. Although her name was Ann Reese, she was known by which acronym?

Answer: Ayn

"Ayn" stood for "Anything You Need", a nickname she earned for her smuggling abilities in prison. Ayn and Fiona became friends in prison, when Ayn helped Fiona hide and then Fiona allowed her to be the one to find her, earning Ayn an early release from prison.

After she was released, Ayn needed help because she had killed a dirty cop's informant who was beating her sister. The cop planted drugs in Ayn's apartment to get her arrested again, so Michael and the gang planned to frame the cop to use as leverage to get her released.

They soon realized that the cop was in trouble with a gang leader and might end up being killed, so they saved him and got him to release Ayn as a reward for saving his life.
