Cole, as a former demon, has no ID, no driver's license. But he yearns for some action. So he borrows Piper's car and gets busted by the police. Then he and Phoebe get possessed by evil spirits from the past, which make them rob a diamond ring and a wedding dress; their aim is to get married in a church.

But Darryl and Piper walk in on them, and Cole gets shot. The evil spirits quit their bodies, Leo heals Cole and Phoebe agrees to marry the ex-demon for real.

A firestarter is a rare magical creature, destined to become The Source's personal bodyguard. That's why the demonic bounty hunters are after him. Piper and Leo decide to pose as bounty hunters in order to get to Ludlow, the demon whose task is to turn Tyler into The Source's servant. But Ludlow takes Tyler hostage. Piper and Leo are helpless; the demon can be vanquished only by the power of three. When they finally rescue Tyler with the help of Phoebe and Paige, Piper convinces the boy to drink a potion that binds his powers.

Phoebe, disconcerted by strange behaviour of Cole who is avoiding her, casts a spell to find out an answer to the question: should she marry Cole? Then her past baby self and her future old self appear. The future Phoebe, an old and bitter woman, is reluctant to answer the question.

But when she saves Cole from an attacking demon, shielding him with her own body, the present Phoebe decides that she should marry Cole.

Cole, the new Source, did everything to sabotage his own wedding in a church, because only marrying Phoebe in a dark way ensured that his son would be his true heir. The dark way meant a wedding ceremony in a cemetery, performed by a dark priest, and the groom drinking the bride's blood. And all went as Cole had planned: after their wedding in the church got canceled, because of the attacking Lazarus demon and Paige getting hurt, everybody agreed to the wedding in a cemetery's mausoleum, where they went in order to bury the demon.

Cole gives Phoebe her Gram's ring as an engagement ring, and it turns her into a model housewife. All she cares about is cooking and cleaning. In the end she doesn't even know who she is anymore: she responds only to "Mrs. Cole Turner". It turns out that Grams, after six failed marriages, cursed the ring so that it reminded her what the marriage is about: housework, subjugation, losing one's own identity. When Phoebe takes the ring off, she becomes normal again. And she throws the ring down a bathtub.

At the beginning of this episode Phoebe gets attacked by a harpy, which leaves a scratch on her shoulder. It is what she blames her feeling sick afterwards on. She gets dizzy and faints. But when she decides to take a pregnancy test, it turns out that she is expecting a baby from Cole. When the doctor tells her about it on the phone, she faints again - this time out of shock.

Paige goes to Cole's apartment and it is where she meets a vampire, which sends bats after her. Their bites turn her into a vampire. The undead, banished from the Underworld, plan to take out Cole aka The Source and hope to make the Charmed Ones join their side. Piper, Phoebe and Leo stand up against them and are about to lose the battle, when Cole appears; he kills their queen, which seals the fate of all vampires. Paige becomes human again.

Fire power is an upper level demonic power. Phoebe gets it from the Seer, who thinks that making her evil is the only way to save the demon in Cole. Phoebe with her new power vanquishes Julie, Cole's evil assistant, and then the wizard, to whom Cole wanted to give up his powers in order to get Phoebe's love back. But it turns out to be unnecessary, since Phoebe decides to embrace her new destiny. She joins Cole in the coronation ceremony and becomes the queen of the underworld.

Phoebe realises that the Seer is poisoning her and refuses to drink the tonic. Then something in her changes: she helps Piper and Paige to save an innocent. When Cole finds out about it, he kills the innocent himself and comes after Piper and Paige. But they are prepared for this: they entrap The Source in a circle of crystals and with the help of Phoebe vanquish him using the restored power of three.

As reward for vanquishing The Source of All Evil and thus fulfilling their destiny, the Charmed Ones are offered a possibility to relinquish their powers and lead a normal life. At the beginning they want to take up this offer of Angel of Destiny, but then something happens that makes them change their mind. They save a witch from burning at a stake, but they cannot use their supernatural powers, because the witch-hunter renders them powerless thanks to the use of amulets. They decide they want to continue saving innocents after all.
