Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This show starred a father-and-son who played a father-and-son serving in North Africa.

Answer: Captain Gallant of the Foreign Legion

This short lived program that lasted only from 1955 through 1957 starred Buster Crabbe as Capt. Michael Gallant and Cullen Crabbe as his son Cuffy. The setting was a foreign legion outpost in N. Africa. The first season of this show was filmed on location in Morocco, using some of the French colonial troops and real legionnaires. Later, after political unrest reared its ugly head in Morocco, filming was done back in California.
2. I wonder if the trail hands of this show ever reached the railroad at Sedalia?

Answer: Rawhide

Cattle was driven to the railroad terminus at Sedalia, Missouri, where they were loaded onto cattle cars and shipped back east to the packing plants. As the railroad was extended further west the cattle drives would change their final destination. Although he appeared in several movies and television programs prior to 'Rawhide' this is the program that launched Clint Eastwood into stardom.
3. This show started with "A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty..." Well, you know the rest. What's the show?

Answer: The Lone Ranger

From 1949 to 1957 the youth of America, particularly young boys, waited to hear "A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty 'Hi Yo Silver!'" knowing they would soon be watching the adventures of the Lone Ranger and his faithful companion, Tonto.

The Lone Ranger was played by Clayton Moore and Tonto was played by Jay Silverheels. Another interesting fact is that the theme song was actually the 'William Tell Overture' composed by Gioachino Rossini in 1829.
4. The main character and namesake of this show was known for his catch phrase "Bless your pea pickin' heart."

Answer: The Tennessee Ernie Ford Show

Ernie Ford was a gifted composer and singer with a rich, deep voice. All voices on the show were done by Lionel Wilson.
