Gideon's arch nemesis, we found out in this episode, was Adrian Bale. The BAU had encountered him in another state sometime in the past, but it wasn't actually Bale who was the bomber this time. As a matter of fact, it was a man who forged what Bale did, in other words it was a copy cat.

The BAU found out that Bale and the forger had been communicating and that Bale had told him that if they ever found him to not go in because he said his greatest regret was giving in and going with the cops. Gideon went to talk to Bale when the forger had strapped a man into a bomb and sent him into the police station.

This is after the fact that the forger blew himself up because they found him and the forger decided to listen to Bale and die rather than go with the cops. Gideon and Bale had made a deal that if Gideon confessed to what he had done all those years ago when it was Bale they were after, and then he would help them. Gideon complied and Bale told them to cut the red wire. Gideon told them to cut the blue wire because he had remembered his earlier visit that day with Bale. Bale had said that if he ever had the chance to create another huge explosion (pressing the button) he would have to do it.

The deal made with the cops was void and therefore Bale went back into lock up. Author's Note: What Gideon did "all those years ago" was they had had Bale cornered and Bale said that he would come out and surrender peacefully which he did. See here's where the problem came in... Gideon, after Bale had come out, had sent in six agents. Bale still had the remote for the bomb in his pocket and he blew up those six agents. Gideon had never searched him but had "dared him", as Bale had put it, to push the button and he had.

You hear J.J. called this here and there every so often in the series but predominantly she is referred to as J.J., even by her co- workers.

You actually hear her called that more often than Penelope. Usually she is called this by Hotch or Morgan.

You really only know this if you watched the beginning of the episode. It showed flashes of about five people and why they were on the train. One of the women was possibly going so that she could have an abortion of the baby she was carrying, one of the men on the train was on his way to see his wife with a gun in his briefcase, and another man was going away because he got into an accident while drunk and his father told him not to bother coming home.

This little conversation took place in the episode "Derailed". This actually took place right after all the hostages had been let go, as well as Elle and Reid. The paranoid schizo was taken into custody and everyone was safe. Gideon came up to Elle and Reid when they came out of the train so he could check on Elle.

At the end to Hotch's little speech there is that some people grew up to catch them (killers). He and Vincent were talking and Hotch was trying to "explain" to him why some people, namely him, grow up to be killers and why others, like himself, grow up to catch them.

This is the episode L.D.S.K. where they are taken hostage along with the rest of the patients and visitors. There was a shooter shooting people in broad daylight and it turned out to be one of the doctors. The doctor took people hostage and Reid took Hotch's gun and shot the guy in the head saving the day.

The doctor had been shooting people so that when they came into the hospital he could save them and be the hero.

This conversation is being had by Reid, Morgan, Elle, and Hotch in the episode "Broken Mirror". Reid basically was getting irritated with Morgan thinking Reid knew everything all the time.

Gideon was actually retired during the beginning of the first episode. He had been teaching his class about a killer and the profile designed for him and that his main characteristic that would stand out was that he had a severe stutter. Oddly enough, at the end of this episode Gideon ran across this man.

It ended with a close up of Gideon's face just as the guy pulled out his gun. Obviously, the guy didn't get him.

Morgan and Reid were talking because something had been bothering Reid and Morgan was trying to get it out of him. It turned out that Reid has been having nightmares. He made Morgan promise not to say anything but Morgan told Gideon anyways. Reid got mad at Morgan but Morgan told Reid that he used to have nightmares frequently, too and Gideon had helped him get over them.
