In the first episode of the series, Special Agents Hotchner and Morgan were ordered to bring Gideon out of retirement and back to work. According to the first episode Gideon is the most brilliant profiler that the FBI has ever had.

Answer: Penelope and Morgan

Penelope and Morgan are having this conversation when Morgan called Penelope for information. Penelope is their resident computer master. Reid is the real genius, however. Reid is the youngest doctor according to this show and can retain an enormous amount of knowledge without forgetting anything. He has an incredibly high IQ.

Trish and Cheryl were victims of a kidnapper. The kidnapper had taken one of them but had accidentally taken the wrong one. He had a complex that had made him obsessed with the twins and he wanted both of them.

The killer turned out to be Phillip Dowd. He liked playing God where he would go and shoot someone, get back to the hospital, save their life, and get to play hero.

Answer: Reid

Reid was the one who shot Dowd. This was actually the part that makes this episode my favorite one. What happened was earlier you find out that Reid had had his gun taken away because he can't shoot well. Morgan made a joke out of it and threw a whistle at him and said to blow on it if he got into any trouble. Anyways, moving on, they did the whole run around and when they found out that Dowd was their guy; Dowd took the entire waiting room hostage with all the people in it including Hotch and Reid. Hotch made "friends" with the killer and told him to move all the hostages next to the door, in case SWAT tried to shoot their way in, they'd kill the hostages in the process. He also asked the killer to let him beat the stuffing out of Reid because Reid still couldn't handle a gun even after he spent all his time teaching him how to use one. Hotch started kicking the crap out of Reid and Reid, getting the plan in Hotch's mind, grabbed the gun out of Hotch's sock and shot the killer in the head (the killer had taken Hotch's other gun that he keeps in his side holster). Later on you found out that Reid had been aiming at Dowd's leg and had got the killers' head instead. They also had the following conversation, after they were out of the situation, which I thought was hilarious:
Hotchner: "Well, I wouldn't have kept kicking you, I was afraid you didn't get my plan."
Spencer: "I got your plan the minute you moved the hostages out of my line of fire."
Hotchner: "Well I hope I didn't hurt you too badly."
Spencer: "Hotch, I was a twelve year old child prodigy in a Las Vegas public high school. You kick like a nine year old girl."
Reid tried to give Hotch back the gun but Hotch wouldn't take it. Morgan came up to Reid and Reid tossed Morgan back the whistle. After Reid walked away Morgan stood their and said to himself "Touché kid". That was it and that is why this episode is my favorite.

Gideon had been in an accident that put him on crutches. He stayed back at headquarters and drove Penelope crazy. He had taken over her office and ordered her around and she basically kicked him out at the end. Also, in this episode we found out that Gideon had had a list of 25 things to do before he died and he told Hotch that he needed to make a new list. Hotch said he shouldn't make a new list until he had finished all 25 things, this said referring to Gideon calling his son.

After Hotch left Gideon's office, Gideon got on the phone and called his son.

Actually the guy who took hostages on the train suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. This caused him to think the government had put a chip in his body and tracked him at all times. The BAU sent in Reid as a tech to "remove" the chip and leave but that didn't work because the psycho wouldn't let Reid leave. In the end a man on the train who had a gun with him shot the man.

Answer: Morgan told Gideon about Reid's nightmares

Reid told Morgan he had been having nightmares and Morgan turned around and told Gideon. Reid was furious with Morgan for telling Gideon because he didn't want everyone to know. Morgan told Gideon because he had helped him when Morgan had had the same nightmares. He thought that maybe Gideon could help Reid with his nightmares and he did.
