Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was it that arrived at Dulles International Airport to pick Temperance up after her two month trip to Guatemala?

Answer: Angela

Angela couldn't get any information, as the arrival screen was not viewable. She went over to the agent and asked for help, but he kept putting a finger in the air indicating she wait a moment. Finally, she opens her shirt and flashes the counter agent just as Dr. Brennan walks up behind her.
Dr. Temperance Brennan had been excavating a mass grave in Guatemala that contained victims of genocide.
2. Temperance has a knack for self-defense. Who does she attack inside the airport?

Answer: Homeland Security officer

Seeley had sent ahead a request that Homeland Security detain Temperance for questioning. He wanted to appear just in time to "save" her from questioning. He reveals later that their past encounter hadn't gone well, due to the fact he did not believe in her. Though the officer appears not to recognize her, he says later that he loved her book.
3. Where is it that Temperance, Zach, Angela, and Hodgins work?

Answer: The Jeffersonian Institute

They work for the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington D.C. Temperance is an anthropologist that also writes books. Her character is based on the real life of anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs, also a writer/producer of the series.
4. As seen in several scenes, what is the title of Temperance's novel?

Answer: Bred in the Bone

At the end of the episode, Seeley tells Temperance that her book has hit number three with a bullet on the "New York Times" 'Best Seller List'.
5. How does Seeley refer to Temperance, her assistant Zach Addy, and the rest of the scientists?

Answer: Squints

That is the "official" name given to the people who actually squint while they work.
Temperance to Seeley Booth: "You mean people with very high IQs and basic reasoning skills?"
6. Where was Cleo Eller's body found?

Answer: Arlington National Cemetery

Her body was found after routine maintenance was started. She was sunk in a pond. Temperance was able to give the initial report of the body belonging a female who played tennis.
7. What kind of image revealed the identity of Cleo Eller?

Answer: holographic

After Temperance reassembled her skull and placed tissue markers on it, they used Angela's computer program to get an image. The program produced a three dimensional holographic image. Racial values could be changed to get different possibilities. When they applied Caucasian and African American values at the same time, Temperance recognized the long missing political intern Cleo Eller.
8. Temperance often states "I don't know what that means." Which of these references was NOT confusing to her?

Answer: New York Times

She knew what the "New York Times" was, but did not know the implications of being number three on their best seller list. Seeley said she was going to be rich and should hire an accountant. She asked how one went about hiring an account. She did not know what Seeley meant when he said they were Mulder and Scully, or when he needed to line all his ducks in a row.

She was willing to be a duck, if that meant getting out into the field with him. Angela confused her when she asked if the bi-racial values should reflect more of a Lenny Kravitz or Vanessa Williams type of look.
9. According to their "bug and slime guy" Hodgins, how long had Cleo been in the pond?

Answer: 1 winter and 2 summers

Zach told Seeley they wouldn't know how long the body had been in the pond until their bug and slime guy checked it over. Hodgins revealed to the group that black carp and koi had fed on the body during the one winter and two summers it spent in the water.
10. Zach, Angela and Hodgins all believe they were characters in Temperance's novel.

Answer: True

She swears that all of the characters are completely fictional. Angela thinks she got everyone's personality down well, especially Seeley Booth's. She explained he definitely had a lot of sexual confidence, and she would love to tap into it.
David Boreanaz plays the multi-layered and sexy FBI agent, Seeley Booth.
11. How many times does Temperance tell Seeley not to call her Bones?

Answer: 2 times

She says this to him when he "rescues" her from Homeland Security at the airport and again after they identify Cleo Eller's body at the Jeffersonian. He calls her Bones about five different times in this episode.
12. Was Cleo Eller pregnant when she was murdered?

Answer: Yes

Hodgins found some tiny bones along with Cleo's body, and at first thought they were frog bones. He later explained they were a specific type of bone, fetal ear bones. Temperance tries to use DNA to connect Senator Bethlehem to Cleo's baby, as they were rumored to be having an affair. This senator was a known "hound", as Seeley's boss described him.
13. Who was the man believed to be stalking Cleo before she died?

Answer: Oliver

Oliver Laurier was a "close friend" of Cleo's, but the senator's aid had a restraining order taken out against him. It makes sense later, when we realize Ken Thompson is trying to throw the trail off of him as her killer. Oliver takes an instant liking to Dr. Brennan, and sort of stalks her as the episode progressed.
14. Temperance explains to Seeley that Cleo's skull contained petechials of cement, rolled steel and diatomaceous earth. Which of this does NOT explain diatomaceous earth?

Answer: is not commonly found anywhere

Temperance explains all of this to Seeley while he is driving. She says that it is very commonly used as an insecticide, a filtering agent, and a cleaning abrasive. Cleo's killer, Ken Thompson, had a room full of tropical fish tanks inside his home. He also had new linoleum over a floor that Dr. Brennan suspected was concrete.
15. After Temperance shot Ken in the leg, which two people entered the tropical fish room in Ken's house?

Answer: Oliver and Seeley

Temperance is determined to stop Ken from setting fire to his fish room, and destroying the evidence of Cleo's murder. She shoots him in the leg and Oliver walks in. She isn't sure if Oliver is involved with Ken in some way or just there to look out for her well being. Seeley comes in shortly afterward and takes the gun from Temperance.
