Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Whose wedding day was interrupted by a ghost?

Answer: Jim and Melinda's

At the beginning of this episode, Jim and Melinda were seen looking blissfully happy on their wedding day. As they danced together at the wedding reception, Melinda saw the outline of a compass appear suddenly on a window pane. That night, the same outline appeared on Melinda's bathroom mirror, and she also saw a frightening looking ghost walking up the staircase. Moments later however, like the compass on the mirror, the ghost disappeared.
2. Jim discovered that Melinda could see and talk to ghosts in this episode.

Answer: False

As Jim and Melinda danced together on their wedding day, the former was heard whispering "Don't tell me you see something," prompting the latter to insist "No. No. It's nothing!" Jim's next comment, "That's good because we'd like to keep the celebration among the living," makes it clear that he knew about Melinda's abilities before the series began.
3. Why was Melinda upset that a ghost had interrupted her at home?

Answer: It had never happened to her before

While Andrea and Melinda were having coffee, Andrea seemed surprised to hear that a ghost had visited Melinda at home, prompting the latter to admit that such a thing had "never happened before". When asked how Jim had responded to the situation, Melinda replied that she had made "an executive decision not to spoil the moment", prompting Andrea to say "Good call!"
4. What animal drew Melinda's attention to a war memorial stone, where she discovered the name of her ghost listed alongside other victims of the Vietnam War?

Answer: A dog

As Melinda made her way to the store, a yellow Labrador Retriever ran out in front of her car, forcing her to stop suddenly. Looking up, Melinda caught sight of a war memorial plague, where she eventually found the name of her ghost, Sergeant Paul Adams, who died in the Vietnam War.
5. Acting on the wishes of a bossy ghost, what did Melinda tell a bemused man that his wife had left "in her blue raincoat"?

Answer: A key to a safe deposit box

When Melinda visited the V.F.W. (Veterans of Foreign Wars) in an attempt to gain more information on Sergeant Paul Adams, she was confronted by another bossy ghost. Having asked the man inside for further information, she was promptly accosted by his wife, who demanded that Melinda told the man "that the key to the safe deposit box is in the pocket of my blue raincoat".
6. Person 1: "Oh my God. You must have been dying to tell him?" Melinda: "Tell him what? That his dead father was dripping mud on my living room last week?" Person 1: "Point taken!" Melinda had the above conversation with Andrea.

Answer: True

Melinda and Andrea had this conversation after the former returned home from meeting Michael Adams, the son of the ghost who had been bothering Melinda. This was the moment when it finally dawned on Melinda that the ghost, Sergeant Paul Adams, thought that it was his own wife who was pregnant, and not his son's.

As she explained to Andrea, "whenever there's a big change in a family, like a child about to be born, it sends a ripple effect through the spirit world. It wakes up the spirits of someone close. That is why Paul is here."
7. How did Melinda convince the ghost of Sergeant Paul Adams that a great deal of time had passed, and it was his son's wife who was pregnant, not his own?

Answer: She showed him his memorial plaque

After catching sight of Paul standing in front of the entrance to her shop, Melinda told him to follow her, and then led him to a cemetery. She then showed him his memorial plaque, prompting Paul to state that "it can't be. My wife...she's pregnant." Melinda responded by informing him that "She had a son, three months after you were reported missing.

He's thirty-three now, with a wife and a baby of his own on the way."
8. What did the ghost of Sergeant Paul Adams ask Melinda to tell his son, Michael?

Answer: How he died

At the beginning of this episode, along with Melinda, viewers learned that Sergeant Paul Adams was listed as Missing in Action in June 1972. This was later explained to him by Melinda, after Paul informed her of the "bits and pieces" he remembered about being in a helicopter.

After accepting the fact that his son was thirty three years old, and his wife was dead, Paul then asked whether his son knew how he died. When Melinda responded with "just that you were MIA", Paul asked her to tell his son what happened to him in the helicopter.
9. Initially Michael Adams refused to believe that Melinda had spoken to his father's spirit, and considered her a "con job".

Answer: True

When Melinda visited Michael for the second time, she told him that in his father's last moments, he was thinking of him. She also added that "he was heartbroken that he would never know his child". When asked how she could know such a thing, Melinda responded that Paul had come to her for help, prompting Michael to say "I guess I didn't realise how transparent I am". Refusing to take Melinda seriously, an angry Michael then ordered her out of his home.
10. "The thing about Jim is that, he can take away your fear. He makes more of a difference than he knows." Who was the first person to say these words in this episode?

Answer: Jim's older brother, Dan

These words were first said by Jim's brother, Dan, at Jim and Melinda's wedding, which took place at the very beginning of this episode. However it was not until the end of this episode that it was revealed that Dan was actually a ghost, having died after falling off a roof some years previously.

At the wedding, Dan said the above words to Melinda, prompting her to respond with "He would so love to hear that from you". Smiling, Dan responded with "Save it for when he's really ready to throw in the towel. You'll know." Sure enough, at the end of this episode, Jim was seen lamenting the near death of a man he eventually managed to save, prompting Melinda to repeat the words of his brother.

She also explained to Jim that Dan had been with him all along.
