3. What does Martin always do when he walks into the house through the front door?

Answer: Turns the telephone receiver around

Whenever Martin enters the house he always wipes his feet thoroughly, as he recounts his day to Ann (whether she is there and listening or not!) then he always goes to the telephone and turns the receiver around.
4. One day when Ann was bored, she decided to hop on the ferry and go shopping to France for the day.

Answer: True

Ann was stranded in France overnight, leaving Martin to fend for himself.
5. Who won the annual pub snooker tournament?

Answer: Howard

Martin thought that he was a definite to win the tournament until Paul signed up, then he was convinced that Paul was bound to win. Paul had been asked to throw the match by Ann, but it didn't matter, as he couldn't play anyway. Howard had been having a bad day on the day of the tournament, this gave him the edge and he managed to win.
6. For five years Martin, Ann, Howard and Hilda always went on holiday together. What was the name of the hotel in 'The Black Forest' where they went?

Answer: 'Hotel Glockenspiel'

In the first series, they had made their plans to go to the 'Hotel Glockenspiel' as normal, until Paul offered them a cheap holiday in the Spanish villa of one of his friends. In the end, the villa never materialised so Howard and Hilda went to the 'Hotel Glockenspiel' and Martin and Ann went to the Greek Islands.
7. What kind of business did Paul run?

Answer: Hairdressing Salon

Paul's surname was Ryman. He owned a hairdressing salon in the town centre.
8. What was the surname of Howard and Hilda?

Answer: Hughes

At a meeting of the 'Automobile Club', Paul found it funny when he discovered that Howard's surname was Hughes. He found it even funnier when he was told that Martin also knew a man called Tommy Cooper!
9. Which one of the following clubs or organisations was Martin NOT involved in?

Answer: 'Origami Club'

Martin said that organising and looking after all of his clubs and associations was a hobby. Paul voted that everyone in the community should share the responsibilities to give Martin free time. This caused Martin to mope around with nothing to do. Everyone managed to get confused with the paperwork, or they simply didn't have to time, so in the end Martin got his hobbies back.
10. Martin liked to send notices out to everyone in his clubs and associations. What did he use to produce all of these notices?

Answer: A manual printing press

Martin could often be found frantically turning the crank of his printing press to produce the latest cricket fixtures or agenda's of meetings.
