Pilot says he's not sure he can, but John quotes the Saturday Night Live character Stuart Smalley by saying, "You can do it, man. Interesting that the arachnid didn't want to harvest her, though, hmm? Scorpius isn't harvested at first, only infected, which makes his Scarran side take over and causes him to be savage and violent, but he does get harvested later.

John wants to give up, while Aeryn simply falls apart, her emotions getting the better of her. D'Argo wants to talk to the slave girl and work things out, while Rygel is ready to give back the money to the traders when the trading vessel returns to Moya. Chiana notices everyone acting weird and then kisses D'Argo, saying there's no tingle.

D'Argo, Aeryn, Rygel, and Chiana fly off in the Luxan's ship Lo'la when the trading vessel takes off. John, feeling useless and ready to give up and die, stays behind. Turns out Talikaa stayed on Moya and set an auto course on the trading vessel, getting rid of the others so she can harvest Scorpius. In the end, John uses Scorpius as bait so Talikaa will harvest him and lead him back to the nest where they can find the orbs.

John tracks the arachnid to her nest and walks in with a really big gun and says, "I know you can see me. The bad guys always see me. Cause my plans suck. People die. It's always a mess." Talikaa confronts John while Sikozu walks up the wall to get the orbs. John falls to his knees and tells her to get it over with. "Fast, slow... lady's choice." Talikaa says, "I like it slow." John says, "Oh, god, I was afraid you were going to say that." When Talikaa turns after catching Sikozu stealing the orbs, John takes the big gun and puts it right in the creature's mouth, shooting it, saying "Along came a spider, exploded beside her."

Aeryn confronts John, telling him she's been doing everything to get him back and the whole time he's been cheating by taking the drugs. John tells her it's over, but she won't let up. John then tells Pilot his comms are buggy, could he check them out? Pilot says he can, but comms will be off for thirty microts. John says that's fine and then tells Aeryn, "Shut up and listen to me. Scorpius is here, looking for the key to what is inside my head. Neural chips, aurora chair, threatening Earth...none of it works because he does not understand me.... You're the key. My Achilles. You. If he figures that out the world and all that's in it is nothing.

He will use you and the baby, and I will not be able to stop him." Aeryn doesn't buy it, saying, "So you think he's been using the comms? Look what it's done to you. You're completely paranoid." Just then, Scorpius speaks over the comms, saying, "Pilot? Are we having a problem with the comms?" Aeryn looks at John, then plays along, saying, "S... so, it's over." John says, "It's over." Aeryn and John smile at each other and kiss.
