Lord Melbury is a con artist and he tricks Fawlty into giving him money and he almost gets Basil's prized coin collection. Lord Melbury is played by actor Michael Gwynn.

Answer: the genius of the lamp

O'Reilly also says that he likes a woman with spirit, which causes Sybil to pick up a golfing umbrella and hit him with it. O'Reilly was played by actor David Kelly.
