Each of these characters did their own part in helping Dawn. Willow was the first person to give aid. She used telepathy to bring a certain book to Dawn's attention. Then, Spike found Dawn beside Joyce's graveside, and aided her the rest of the way. Spike took her to Doc, who told her exactly what needed to be done, and then Spike helped Dawn acquire the Gora demon egg she needed.

Doc told Spike and Dawn that the Gora lived in the sewers, close to the entrance on Tracy Street. Once down there, Spike and Dawn discovered that the Gora had three heads!

Dawn only needed one egg, but she dropped the first one and it broke. So, she went back in for another one while Spike fought the demon off. There were not nine eggs in the Gora's nest. It looked to be about five, maybe six.

Tara called Buffy and warned her about what Dawn might be trying to do. Buffy found Dawn in her room finishing off the resurrection spell. Dawn ran downstairs and Buffy snatched up the picture of their mother. When it sounded like Joyce was almost home, Buffy ran to the door to see her mother and Dawn tore the picture in half.

When Buffy opened her front door, there was nothing there and she and Dawn collapsed in a fit of tears.
