Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which "Futurama" character is a contestant on the gameshow "Who Dares to be a Millionaire?" in the opening scene of the episode "The Duh-Vinci Code"?

Answer: Fry

The gameshow Fry appears in is similar to the actual gameshow "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" whose contestants attempt to answer a series of multiple choice questions that progress from laughably easy to very difficult. Hapless Fry is eliminated on the very first question, "What tool is used to hammer a nail?" The show's host is only able to read the first two of four choices, "A. Hammer, B. Nail" before Fry blurts out "B. Nail" as his final answer.
2. In the episode "The Late Philip J. Fry", the Professor, Fry and Bender observe the state of humanity at various dates in the distant future after they are accidentally transported forward through time. Fill in the blank - "In the year 1 million and a half, mankind has ____________________."

Answer: been enslaved by a giraffe

Since the Professor's time machine can only travel forward in time, the time travelers make various stops at dates in the future hoping that at some point, backwards time travel will have been invented. Some of the scenes they observe along the way, including mankind's enslavement by a giraffe, are described in overlay lyrics sung to the tune of the actual 1969 hit song "In the Year 2525" by Zagar and Evans.

The travelers do stop at a time machines are in the process of exterminating humans, but it is not the year 1 million and a half.
3. In the episode "In-A-Godda-Da-Leela", what letters appear on the outer hull of the death sphere that has been destroying planets in nearby star systems and is making its way to Earth?

Answer: V-GINY

The death sphere was created when a satellite called "V-CHIP" launched to censure indecent TV programming collided with a top secret Air Force satellite labeled "USAF FLYING DESTINY". As the satellites collided, their programming and machinery became fused into a rogue weapon that seeks out and destroys planets deemed obscene.

The names of the separate satellites also fused to form "V-GINY". Before heading toward earth, the death sphere has destroyed Planet XXX, the Nude Beach Planet, Poopiter, and a world that can't be mentioned in polite company.
4. In the episode "A Clockwork Origin", Professor Farnsworth finds the missing link in the evolutionary chain from monkeys to early humans (Homo Erectus). What is the name given to his discovery?

Answer: Homo Farnsworth

Professor Farnsworth confronts a group of creationists protesting the teaching of the theory of evolution, angrily assuring them that man has indeed descended from "filthy monkey men." An orangutan named Dr. Banjo steps forward from the crowd to challenge the Professor by pointing out that if evolution were correct, there shouldn't be any gap in the fossil record between monkeys and humans.

This inspires the Professor to take the Planet Express crew on a digging expedition to Africa's Ulduvai Gorge where the Professor unearths the fossil skeleton dubbed Farnsworth Man.
5. In the episode "Mobius Dick", the Planet Express crew travels into a dreaded area of space where spaceships that enter are never seen or heard from again. What is the name given to this mysterious area of space?

Answer: The Bermuda Tetrahedron

The Bermuda Tetrahedron lies between earth and the planet Xenotaph 3 where Professor Farnsworth sends the crew to pick up a monument to a previous Planet Express crew to commemorate the 50th anniversary of that crew being lost on a mission. Even though Leela is skeptical that the Bermuda Tetrahedron is a real phenomenon, she originally plans to fly around the area but on the return trip decides to attempt a shortcut through it.
6. In the episode "Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences", what did Lrrr, Ruler of the Planet Omicron Persei 8, do to cause his wife Ndnd to kick him out of their home?

Answer: Botched an invasion of Earth

Lrrr reluctantly invades Earth after Ndnd complains that he is lazy and reminds Lrr that he had promised to conquer a planet that day. The invasion goes horribly wrong when the Omicronian invaders land during Comic-Con 3010, a science fiction festival that features an alien costume contest. Earth's inhabitants mistake Lrrr and his henchmen for contestants and do not take the invasion seriously.
7. In the episode "Proposition Infinity", Bender launches a campaign to have voters approve a change in the law. What would Proposition Infinity do?

Answer: Legalize robosexual marriage

The Planet Express crew discover Bender and Amy are having an intimate office romance and warn the couple that robosexual relationships are forbidden. Bender is outraged at yet another example of discrimination against robots and successfully gets the question of whether robot-human marriage should be allowed placed on the ballot for an upcoming election.
8. In the episode "The Lethal Inspection", which character turns out to have been "Inspector #5" who approved Bender fresh off the factory production line despite a production flaw?

Answer: Hermes Conrad

In a flashback at the end of this episode, it is revealed that before coming to work at Planet Express, Hermes had been a quality control inspector at the Tijuana, Mexico manufacturing plant where Bender was built. Hermes' detected the defect that meant Bender would not be immortal like other robots during his inspection of Bender as an infant robot but certified Bender anyway.
9. In the episode "The Prisoner of Benda", when it is reported that Emperor Nikolai of the Robo-Hungarian Empire has arrived in New New York in his royal yacht, which character in which other character's body attempts to steal the Emperor's crown?

Answer: Bender in Amy's body

During this episode, several of the show's characters transfer their minds to other characters' bodies using a mind switching device invented by Professor Farnsworth. At one point, Bender's mind is transferred to Amy and he uses her athletic body to carry out a plot to swim to Emperor Nikolai's yacht, seduce the guards, and steal the crown.
10. At the beginning of the episode "That Darn Katz", Amy defends her doctoral thesis in front of a distinguished panel at Mars University. Which panel member votes to deny approval of Amy's thesis by saying "The horse says: Doctorate denied"?

Answer: Professor Fisherprice Shpeekenshpell

Professor Fisherprice Shpeekenshpell is a robot with a Mattel See 'n Say children's toy for a head. The intelligent horse that could speak to his owner in "Mr. Ed", a popular TV show in the 1960's, does not appear in any "Futurama" episode. 'Bubble Gum' Tate and Dr. Katz are also members of Amy's doctoral thesis panel but did not say the quote.
