Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Hamelot", who was the sponsor of the griffin's talk show?

Answer: The Lady of the Lake

King Orson's quest for the Holey Pail led him and his band of brave (or, in the case of Wade, not-so-brave) knights to a griffin (an obvious parody of Merv Griffin). While the griffin did have the Pail, he was more willing to eat the group than hand it over to them. Thanks to a clue from the Lady of the Lake, King Orson was able to use a magnet to obtain the Pail and escape the griffin.
2. Who did Roy play in "The Adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel"?

Answer: Le Duc de Doodledoo

When Orson was reorganizing his bookshelves in "Shelf Esteem", he kept getting distracted by the books he was putting away. The first one he read was "The Adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel"; Orson imagined himself as the title character, with his friends playing the other roles.
3. Which talk show host did the world's first comedian, Shecky Ugg, resemble?

Answer: Johnny Carson

Shecky Ugg was a caveman who wore a crude stone tie and swung an invisible golf club. Unfortunately, he had a heckler, who dropped a enormous boulder on top of Shecky, presumably ending his career in comedy.

For the curious, the world's first joke was, "Why did the brontosaurus cross the road?"
4. In "Cock-a-Doodle Dandy", Roy was supposed to wake the entire farm up at 6 AM. What time did Orson actually wake up?

Answer: 10:15 AM

Orson likes to wake up at the crack of dawn, so when Roy didn't wake the farm up at 6 AM, Orson was understandably steamed. Roy, however, was unperturbed. After a musical number describing his bugle-playing habits, he almost found himself pulverized by an insomniac bear for the clamor Roy was making. Faced with threats from both sides, Roy was forced to find a way to wake up the farm without also waking the angry bear.
5. What establishment is the Gates Motel situated across from?

Answer: Mystic Manor

Jon wanted to take Garfield and Odie to Mystic Manor and show them a real spooky time, but the caretaker turned them away, saying that the manor hadn't been opened to tourists in years. Forced to stay elsewhere, the group instead checked into the motel across the street. Everything was fine until Odie chased a bat into Mystic Manor, at which point Garfield had to fetch him, lest Jon follow up on his threat of "no dinner".

All of the incorrect choices are also places from the show.
6. What was the name of the girlfriend of the man who was willing to commit suicide by seal?

Answer: Harriet

When Garfield stowed away in a mailbag in an attempt to stop Nermal from being sent to Abu Dhabi (an event that he orchestrated in the first place), he entertained himself by opening other people's mail. One such letter read, "Dear Harriet, Marry me or I will throw myself to the seals." An amusing death, to be sure.
7. What's the only thing that Garfield likes to be buried in?

Answer: Linguini

After obtaining an ice cream bar at the beach by posing as a shark, Garfield meets a girl who wants to bury him in the sand. After he dodges her advances numerous times, she eventually succeeds in burying Bonzo, the boyfriend of a lovely girl cat whom Garfield is attempting to woo.
8. Which warship did Long Jon Arbuckle plunder during the American Revolution?

Answer: The Endeavor

Long Jon Arbuckle stole maps belonging to General George Washington from the Endeavor. Thought to be a traitor for over 200 years, Long Jon Arbuckle was really a spy for the American side. The Endeavor had been captured by the British, and, as such, the maps belonging to Washington that Arbuckle stole from the ship had actually been stolen by the British; Arbuckle was simply stealing them back.

The incorrect choices are all real warships from the American Revolution, though the Endeavor is not.
9. What is the name of the owner of the Housebreak Hotel?

Answer: Howie

Jon kenneled Garfield and Odie at the Housebreak Hotel, which, while advertised as a luxury hotel for pets, turned out to be a dingy dungeon where the animals were kept in cages and abused until their owners came to get them. Needless to say, Garfield organized a daring escape for himself and the rest of the pets.
10. In "How to Be Funny", what one word was the running gag throughout the episode?

Answer: Lights

Whenever Garfield would show some slides in order to demonstrate a certain type of humor, he would say, "Lights!", indicating that he wanted the lights either lowered or raised. However, every time he said it, various people would attempt to hand him light bulbs. Garfield used this to demonstrate how a running gag can evolve over time, starting off completely unfunny and then gradually becoming funnier the more times the joke is repeated.
