Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which gate did the plane Garfield accidentally boarded in "Polar Pussycat" take off from?

Answer: Gate 13

While waiting for his flight, Garfield decided to take a snooze on a luggage cart. Unfortunately, that luggage immediately boarded a flight bound for the South Pole. There, Garfield encountered a down-on-his-luck fur trapper who decided to make Garfield into a pair of gloves. Hijinks ensued, but Garfield eventually managed to escape the fearsome Frenchman.
2. What did Roy build a life-sized statue of Thomas Jefferson out of?

Answer: Okra

We never got to see this statue, as Garfield broke in to finish his defense of why he wasn't fooled into thinking Odie was a cow in the previous cartoon. That sentence is far more interesting without context.
3. When imagining himself as Robinson Crusoe, what was the name of his faithful companion (as played by Odie)?

Answer: Monday

To appease Garfield while the cable was out, Jon gave him a copy of "Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe. In his imagination, Garfield climbed a palm tree (a coat rack), devoured a rare and exotic flower (a plate of spaghetti), and attacked a fearsome tribal warrior (the cable repairman). Because of that last one, the cable never got fixed (and the television set got busted). Garfield and Jon decided to watch the washing machine instead.
4. During "The Multiple-Choice Cartoon", what was the audience's favorite choice for every single question?

Answer: C

For the purposes of comedic effect, the first two choices were typically something mundane, while the third was something humorous (or at least the one with the most comedic possibility). For instance, when asked where the episode should take place, the choices were A. the living room, B. the backyard, and C. whatever scenery they happened to have lying about backstage. C was always the obvious choice.
5. What was Garfield's version of "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

Answer: "99 Kettles of Soup on the Heat"

While Garfield was singing this song during a car ride, Jon was pulled over (and arrested) for going 25 miles an hour in an 8 miles per hour zone. As it turned out, the arresting officer was actually a crook who planted the sign on the side of the road himself. Once the real cops found out, however, he was promptly jailed, and Jon was set free.
6. What was the name of Count Dracula's cat?

Answer: Count Lasagna

In the comic book Jon drew, Count Lasagna stole Italian food from Transylvanian deliverymen by either hypnotizing them or simply scaring them away from the food. The villagers were so enraged by their inability to get any Italian food that they stormed Dracula's castle, luring Count Lasagna out with a pizza. After capturing him, they put him on a low-starch diet. Bleh!
7. In "Night of the Living Laundromat", when Garfield tampered with the washing machine, what did Jon continually find in his pockets for weeks after?

Answer: Barley

This was due to Garfield filling the machine with vegetable beef soup. Because of this, Jon was forced to get a new washing machine. Unfortunately, it was an evil washing machine! These things tend to happen to Jon a lot.
8. What brand of potato chips is frequently seen on the show?

Answer: Nesler Chips

Bob Nesler was a producer on the show from episodes 40 through 72. As is the case with many animated TV series (and movies, as well), anyone who worked on the show frequently took their chance to slip their name in somewhere inconspicuous, like a street name, a brand name, or a minor character's name.
9. Which of these was NOT a recurring segment on the show?

Answer: Odie's Fun Fact of the Day

"Screaming with Binky" was frequently presented as a punishment, as Binky is by far one of the most annoying clowns in existence. "Garfield's Tales of Scary Stuff" was a faux-horror-anthology-style segment in which Garfield recounted tales of bizarre, but typically not terribly scary things, such as leftover food from the refrigerator coming to life. "Garfield Quickies" were 45-second bumpers that filled the space between an episode segment and a commercial.

These were removed in the syndicated version of the show, but they remain fully intact on the DVD releases.
10. The Shlocko Hypno-Snoozifier can supposedly help get rid of nail-biting, overeating, and what other bad habit?

Answer: Sitting in mayonnaise

Using tuna fish as a hat is another bad habit this product can help you with.

Jon's prospective boss disapproved of his nail-biting, calling him a "weirdo". Jon attempted to sleep-hypnotize himself into kicking the habit, but Garfield and Odie accidentally broke the record he was listening to. In hopes that Jon wouldn't notice, Garfield replaced it with a record for learning Spanish, a record of classic '50s pop music, and a record of sound effects. Surprisingly, these actually helped Jon with his interview.
