Tim Dillon ran away from home and was attacked by two people while away. Thankfully, Natalie's ghost appeared and fought both people off to aid Tim. Tim was shocked to see Natalie so she encouraged him to go home, which he eventually did.

Edmund had been abducted by Jim Thomasen and chained inside an aqueduct where Jim expected him to drown. While Edmund was there, Maria's ghost appeared to him and encouraged Edmund to break the chains which bonded him inside. Edmund realized that he had to do it for Maria and, with Dimitri's help (Dimitri arrived after Maria's ghost departed), broke free.

Trevor and Janet planned their wedding and the day arrived in May of 1998. However, Janet was worried on if marrying Trevor would tarnish Natalie's memory. Natalie's ghost made an appearance at the wedding and she gave Janet her blessing to marry Trevor.

Gillian died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head in which she was rendered brain dead. Ryan made the agonizing decision to have her heart donated to Laura Kirk English. Gillian arrived in Heaven and was met by the ghosts of several previous "AMC" characters.

The ghosts were: Harold the Dog, Natalie Dillon, Travis Montgomery, Cindy Chandler, Jesse Hubbard and Jeremy Hunter. It was Jesse's ghost who helped Gillian out the most.

Gillian's ghost still did not want to enter Heaven so she lingered around in Pine Valley for a little while longer. One day, Gillian's ghost inhabited Opal's body. This culminated in Opal kissing Ryan while being inhabited by Gillian's ghost.

Ryan was alone one evening at the turret in Wildwind where he and Gillian used to stay and he accidentally caused a fire. Gillian's ghost appeared and told a depressed Ryan that he had to get out and could not die just then since he had much to live for, especially in Pine Valley. Ryan got the will to escape the fire at Wildwind.

Tad and Dixie had become estranged after Tad brought Leslie Coulson back to town to get revenge on David Hayward. Dixie wanted a divorce and therefore this caused the distance between the two. During Christmas of 2001, Jesse used a magical box in order to bring Tad and Dixie closer, which he was successful at doing.

Simone had been killed off in December of 2006 but would soon return to the show several months later in ghost form on two separate episodes in June of 2007. On the first episode, Simone's ghost came to help out Greenlee deal with issues related to Spike. On the second episode, Simone's ghost appeared when Greenlee and Kendall were at Simone's grave and Kendall had a letter from Simone address to Greenlee. Simone's ghost read the letter as Kendall and Greenlee did.

Adam was surprised one day at Chandler Mansion when Dixie's ghost appeared and started to taunt him. This eventually led to Adam being declared crazy and needing some help at Oakhaven, Pine Valley's mental institution. This was considered to be Dixie's payback on Adam when he drove her crazy years ago, which resulted in her spending time at a mental hospital all so he could get custody of JR.

Dixie's ghost appeared at Jesse and Angie's wedding during May of 2008 and mayhem ensued when Rob Gardner brandished a gun. He started shooting around the place. Dixie wanted to ensure Kathy, her daughter with Tad, was safe so she protected Kathy from harm. Kathy was not injured during Rob's shooting rampage thanks to Dixie's ghost.
