SS stands for Sailing Ship, although it had 2 diesel engines, it still qualifies as a sailing ship because it is equipped with sails. There were four different ones used during the course of the series.

"Little Buddy" was just a nickname that Alan Hale Jr. gave out to friends in real life, and hearing the actor calling others "little buddy" on the set, Sherwood Schwartz, the creator, decided to write it into the character.

The castaways host a masquerade party. At the party, Gilligan is Tarzan, the Skipper is a pirate, Mr. Howell dresses as Little Lord Fauntleroy while his wife is Marie Antoinette. Ginger is an Oriental dancing girl, Professor is Julius Caesar, and Mary Ann is a hillbilly.

Answer: Lovey

Thurston can be remarkably sentimental and romantic with Lovey but refuses to do manual labor, preferring instead to hire Gilligan to work for him. He spends his day relaxing with his wife, Lovey, on the bamboo lounge chairs, sipping tropical drinks.

Gilligan had a dream about oranges after people were getting weak and the Professor said a lack of Vitamin C from citrus fruits in the castaways' diet will cause them to keep getting weaker. Meanwhile the Professor explored the other side of the island and found lemon and grapefruit trees. Gilligan knew about them all along, but didn't know they were citrus fruit.

Answer: It was filmed shortly after the assassination of President Kennedy.

The pilot was filmed in November 1963. On the last day of production in Hawaii, the cast and crew learned of John F. Kennedy's assassination. As you see the SS Minnow pulling out of the harbor, you can see the United States flag flying at half mast in the background.

Answer: The Honeybees

This episode had a rock band land on the island. The guys playing the Mosquitoes were a real band, the Wellingtons, and the same guys who sang the theme song to "Gilligan's Island", as heard in season one. These guys were spoofing the Beatles. Mary Ann, Ginger and Mrs. Howell decided to form a group as back up but was so good the guys didn't want competition so left without them. Mary Ann's voice was dubbed by Jackie DeShannon who had hits of her own.

Answer: A typhoon

It's pretty certain that the actual cause of the wreck of the Minnow was a typhoon. It turns out that the weather service aired the weather forecast for the day before, falsely leading the Skipper to think he was in for a routine cruise. The rest is history as they say.

Answer: His cap

Usually he's jolly and happy, but sometimes he gets mad, especially where Gilligan is involved, but he never really loses his temper. He mostly is smacking Gilligan with his cap. They really did have a great friendship.
