In "A Change is Gonna Come", the team of doctors had their hands full with a three-car accident. Alex, Meredith and Cristina each took one of the victims, leaving Izzie and her interns with nothing to do. That is, until a little boy showed up in ER asking her to save the deer in his truck.

It was the deer that they had hit, causing the three-car accident. Izzie's interns were unimpressed about treating an animal, and the little boy's father was skeptical, but Izzie treated the deer just like she would a human, and after using the paddles, the deer stood right up and was fine.

Answer: Really Old Guy

Really Old Guy, also known as Charlie, had been introduced last season, as a comatose patient in whose room the then-interns ate lunch. He woke up in this season, but only wanted to die. Izzie wouldn't let him, and worked hard to save him, even when he tried to pull the plug on himself. He died at the end of the episode, and Izzie made everyone hold a memorial for him in his room.

Answer: in the scrub room

In the Halloween episode "Haunt You Every Day", Meredith took the urn containing her mother's ashes out of her closet, because she thought she was being haunted. She put the ashes in a Ziploc and carried it around at work, before she realized that Ellis would be happiest spending eternity at Seattle Grace. With Dr. Webber's help, Meredith washed her mother's ashes down the sink in the scrub room.

Answer: a wedding dress

Helena and Jackie, supported by their fiancés, came into the ER each refusing to let go of the dress. When it became clear that Jackie would need to go into surgery for her dislocated, the only way she would let go of the dress was if someone would stand in for her and hold it.

In an effort to cheer up Callie, Dr. Sloan ordered George to be the one to stand there and hold on to the dress. George lost the contest for Jackie when Helena began to faint, and he let go to catch her.

Answer: Rose

Derek met Rose (played by Lauren Stamile) during a surgery when he needed her to help fix the computer that was keeping his patient alive. They began to talk and flirt after that, leading eventually to a kiss. After that, he decided he wanted to date Rose casually rather than be complicated with Meredith. Rose was intimidated by 'the legend of Derek and Meredith' for the rest of the season, and in the season finale, Derek was headed to break things off with Rose to get back together with Meredith.

In "Crash Into Me" Parts 1 and 2, Dr. Bailey was trying to treat the paramedic who did not want to remove his shirt. He told her he wanted another doctor, and she thought he wanted a man, so she asked the Chief to step in. The patient still demanded a "different doctor", leading them to realize he meant he wanted a white doctor. Bailey got a "different" doctor for him - Dr. Yang.

He settled for the Asian doctor, revealing to her the swastika on his stomach. This ended up being even worse, because Dr. Yang was raised Jewish.

In surgery, Dr. Bailey had to destroy the tattoo when she cut open and sewed up the paramedic.

Answer: Derek and Mark

Izzie was still living in Meredith's house, as was Alex. George had moved out of the hotel he was staying at with Callie, then stayed with Izzie for awhile. When they decided not to pursue a relationship, he and Lexie decided to get an apartment together so that she could get out of her father's house. Callie moved in with Cristina after Burke left. Derek was still living in his trailer, and while Dr. Webber moved into a trailer on the property as well, Mark did not live there with them.

Answer: Like a Virgin

Burke had won the Harper Avery award for outstanding achievement, and Cristina was mad that he hadn't thanked her for her contributions to her career. She went into a funk, causing Lexie to worry when she found Cristina in the morgue singing. Lexie alerted Meredith, who was able to get Cristina to stop singing "Like a Virgin" by telling her that she [Meredith] was in therapy. That made Cristina feel a little better.

Answer: Yes

Addison returned to the hospital in "Piece of My Heart" to consult on a case that needed her skills. She had a pretty drama-free visit, until the end when she confronted Meredith and cautioned her not to let Derek slip away.

Answer: Erica and Callie

Callie had been thinking about Erica since Addison's visit, when Addison had mistakenly thought that Callie and Erica were a lesbian couple. When Mark heard about that, he used a threesome scenario to talk dirty to Callie, who found she enjoyed it more than she thought she would.

At the end of the season finale, "Freedom", Mark encouraged Callie to go get Erica, though he didn't join the two of them. He did watch them kiss from a distance, though. Also at the end of this season, Derek and Meredith kissed, Alex and Izzie kissed, George and Lexie kissed briefly (and she seemed to really enjoy it!), and the Chief and his wife kissed.
