Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Is it true that if a penny was dropped off the empire state building and hit you, you would be killed?

Answer: No

In this episode from season 1, Jamie and Adam tested to see if you would be killed if you were hit by a penny that fell from the top of the empire state building. They tested this by making a gun that could shoot pennies, and fired it at a ballistics gel head. The results made the myth absolutely busted.
2. Was the myth that ping pong balls at the bottom of the ocean could lift a sunken ship plausible or confirmed?

Answer: Plausible

In this episode from season 2, Jamie and Adam tested to see if a sunken boat could be lifted off the sea floor by thousands of ping pong balls lifting it afloat. They tested this by sending ping pong balls through a tube, and under a boat. The results left them to think that the myth should be plausible.
3. Supposedly, a jail member made a crossbow of paper, then shot and killed an inmate. Was this busted, confirmed, or plausible?

Answer: Plausible

In this episode from season 4, Jamie and Adam tested to see if it is possible to make a crossbow out of nothing but paper, elastic from your underwear, and food trays for an arrowhead. Adam and Jamie had a competition to see who could make the best paper crossbow, and Adam won.

After taking many shots with their self-made paper crossbows, they decided that this myth should be plausible.
4. The myth that farmers in New Zealand had their pants explode randomly was tested by Adam and Jamie.

Answer: False

In this episode from season 4, Tory, Kari, and Grant tested to see if in 1931, New Zealand farmer's pants were exploding while on their bodies. To do this, Tory, Kari, and Grant did several tests to find certain chemicals that explode easily. They then put the best chemical, herbicide, all over Buster. Buster shot up in flames, so they called this myth confirmed.
5. Which MythBuster created the special gun cotton that made the confederate rocket take flight?

Answer: Kari

In this episode from season 3, in 2005, the whole team all got together to test the myth that during the Civil War, the Confederates created a rocket missile that traveled over 100 miles. They created the missile and gun cotton themselves. The result was that the myth was totally busted.
6. The myth that it is possible to curve a bullet was tested by Tory, Kari, and Grant.

Answer: True

This episode is from the 2009 season of "MythBusters". Kari, Tory, and Grant tested to see if it is possible to curve a bullet out of a gun. They couldn't do it themselves, so they made a robot to try to curve a bullet. Not even the robot could make the bullet curve out of the gun. This myth, just as you would think, was busted.
7. According to "MythBusters", women have a higher pain tolerance than men.

Answer: True

Airing in 2010, the whole "MythBusters" team, and many guests, tested to find out if women have a higher pain tolerance than men. They tested this by making men and women stick their hands in freezing cold ice water, and seeing how long they could last with their hand in the water. Surprisingly, women lasted longer. This was confirmed.
8. Grant, Kari, and Tory tried to make what weapon out of leather?

Answer: Cannon

From 2010, this was to see if it is possible to make a working cannon out of leather. Grant, Kari, and Tory first wrapped leather around a cannon, but decided to make an all-leather cannon. It did not work that well, and it was destroyed after a few shots. This was absolutely busted.
9. It was tested that what part of your body gets colder when you're scared?

Answer: Feet

Again, from the 2010 season, Kari, Tory, and Grant wanted to know if that old idiom, "cold feet", is actually true. They made Tory fly in a jet, and his feet got a little colder. They put Grant's head in a glass box, and had tarantulas walk all over his face.

His feet got 15°F colder. Then, Kari, though she is a vegetarian, was forced to eat live bugs. Her feet's temperature also dropped by 15°F. They thought that this should be ruled as plausible.
10. In "What Is Bulletproof", which of these items turned out to be bulletproof?

Answer: None of these items were bulletproof

In 2004, Adam and Jamie wanted to find out if some common household items are bulletproof. They also shot at polycarbonate panels to see if they are bulletproof. Only the 1-inch thick polycarbonate panel and the hardcover book could stop any bullets.
Then in 2008, they tested even more items. Everything was either busted or plausible.
