Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where was "Hell's Kitchen" filmed?

Answer: Los Angeles

In the show, world-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay critiqued, worked, and trained twelve hopeful chefs, eliminating one each week until one remained. The final chef would win their very own restaurant to own and run.
2. How many sous-chefs did Gordon Ramsay have on the show?

Answer: Two

Sous-chefs Mary Ann and Scott were Gordon's seconds-in-command throughout the show. They'd assist him in making his decisions, they'd help in the kitchen, and they'd do minor tasks such as wake up the contestants (they lived in dormitories in the back of the restaurant).
3. When the show began, the chefs were split into two teams. Who was not on the red team?

Answer: Jessica

The red team consisted of Elsie, Jimmy, Dewberry, Jeff, Carolann and Chris, while the blue team included Andrew, Mary Ellen, Jessica, Wendy, Ralph and Michael. When only five chefs remained in the game, there were no teams. Everyone was playing for themselves, and they wore identical chef jackets with black shoulders.
4. Who is the maitre'd of Hell's Kitchen?

Answer: Jean Philippe

Jean Philippe is another one of Gordon Ramsay's assistants on the show. He likes to make sure that the guests have a wonderful dining experience by helping them in any ways he can.
In the final episode, Ralph ends up calling Jean Philippe Jean Pierre. After many weeks in the intense competition, you'd think he'd know his name. :)
5. Which is not a food that was served within the first five servings in Hell's Kitchen?

Answer: Pheasant

In the morning preceding each dinner serving, Chef Ramsay would add something new to the menu, and the chefs would need to learn how to prepare each new meal. Teams needed to clean squids for the second night in Hell's Kitchen, and for the fourth serving, both frog legs and pigeons are prepared. Pheasant isn't added to the menu until the final serving when Ralph and Michael are making their own restaurants.
6. Which contestant quit the game during the third dinner serving?

Answer: Jeff

After succumbing to the pressures of Hell's Kitchen, Jeff leaves the game, and although this happens, Chef Ramsay still eliminates Wendy in the end of the episode. Jeff is the only player to actually leave the game.
7. Someone in the dining room once threw up after eating one of the dishes.

Answer: True

This occurred during the serving which was attended by two food critics. Andrew gets the blame for making the risotto responsible for the ill patron, and his team loses one member for being the worst team during the dinner serving.
8. Who does not win an individual challenge in Hell's Kitchen?

Answer: Jessica

Jimmy wins the first individual challenge by creating the best flambé, and as a reward, he gets a helicopter ride over Los Angeles. Elsie wins the next challenge by creating a top-notch dish out of the previous night's leftovers, and she gets to appear on a talk show with Chef Ramsay. Ralph wins the next challenge and chooses what meat he would like to use first in the following dinner serving.

The final challenge is one by Michael, and he gets first choice of chefs for his final restaurant serving.
9. During the penultimate dinner serving, what is not served?

Answer: Duck

During the individual challenge, Ralph won by making the best soufflé for Chef Ramsay, so he got to choose which meat he wanted to use during the dinner serving. He used beef, Michael used fish, and Jessica used chicken.
During the dinner serving, the chefs' families were served all three dishes. Five people liked Michael's fish, three liked Ralph's beef, and only one liked Jessica's chicken, so Chef Ramsay eliminated Jessica.
10. Which chef was the winner of "Hell's Kitchen"?

Answer: Michael

In the final episode, the aspiring chefs were told to build their own restaurants, make menus, and run the kitchen. Ralph's restaurant, named 'Frank and Lulu's', was created with a New York/Italian Pasta theme, and Michael's restaurant, 'Lola Pop' was a trendy Los Angeles restaurant. Although both restaurants performed exceedingly well, Michael prevailed and won his dream restaurant.
In the end, Gordon Ramsay gives Michael a choice between his restaurant or flying to London to be his protégé. Michael decides to go to London, and everyone celebrates.
