When Kurt's girlfriend - Ruth Osborne - visited the building site, Spike saw his chance to force himself upon her by taking Ruth to a secluded part of the building site. When Kurt found Spike attacking Ruth, a fight broke out between himself and Spike. As the fight moved onto scaffolding outside the building, Spike fell and became impaled on a metal bar. As a result, Spike told police Kurt deliberately pushed him off the scaffolding.

Because of the crash, Kurt also crashed his car injuring himself and Tony, whilst Bazz went missing.
