In a black vest Russ Owen is the first character - he punches the air three times, twice with his left hand and one with his right.

Russ Owen is played by Stuart Manning and first came into the show in 2004. Russ arrived with his mum, brother Sam and sister Nicole. All but Russ have since left the show.

Answer: Michaela

Close up on Michaela's face, she appears in the middle of the titles and the camera stays on her for a long time as she blows the bubble.

Michaela McQueen is played by Hollie-Jay Bowes and first came into the show in 2005. Michaela was the first McQueen to arrive in the show - followed by older sister Mercedes. The rest of the family arrived in 2006.

The name 'Hollyoaks' shoots from either side of the cushion in blue and pinks lights when he lands.

Sam 'OB' O'Brien is played by Darren Jeffries and first came into the show in 1997. OB was taken in by the Cunningham family as he was best friends with Max Cunningham. He lost his girlfriend Mel Burton in the fire in the Dog.

Answer: Tom

There's just a close-up of his face. Like Elliot and Katy, he was introduced the second time round into the titles.

Tom Cunningham is played by Ellis Hollins. Tom first came into the show in 1999, when he was born, but has been played by Ellis since 2001. He lives with his half brother Max, after his parents both died in a car crash in 2004.

Answer: Rhys

His video changed the second time round - now he kicks with a white dotted background - before he just pointed at the camera.

Rhys Ashworth is played by Andrew Moss. Rhys arrived in 2005 with his mum, dad, younger brother Josh and younger sister Hannah. His best mate Gilly came to stay with the family the day after they arrived. Rhys found out in 2007 that his uncle Noel (his dad's brother) was really his dad and he had another half sister - Beth, with whom he had been having a relationship!

Answer: Katy

Close-up of Katy's face, she wasn't in the titles the first time round - as her character hadn't been introduced.

Katy Fox is played by Hannah Tointon (younger sister of Kara Tointon who plays Dawn Swann in 'Eastenders'). Katy arrived in April 2007 as the younger sister of Warren Fox.

Answer: Justin

On a set of blue lights - you can't really see his face, just his legs in the air!

Justin Burton is played by Chris Fountain and first came into the show in 2003. His older sister Mel already lived in 'Hollyoaks' and he arrived with Mel's twin Sophie and his mother Liz. The family lived with Richard, Darlene and Ali Taylor as Liz was in a relationship with Richard, but they broke up. Liz went to live in Colchester, leaving the twins and Justin. Justin moved in with his married teacher Becca but the pair broke up and Justin got Becca sent to prison, where she later died. Mel and Sophie died in the fire in the dog in 2006, leaving Justin all alone, until Katy came along.

Answer: Carmel

Carmel is the second character we see. She is following Russ Owen.

Carmel McQueen is played by Gemma Merna. Carmel arrived in 2006 with her sister Tina, mother Myra and brother John Paul. They joined Carmel's other sisters Mercedes and Michaela. Oldest sister Jacqui arrived a couple of months after them all. Up until mid 2007, Carmel was the only single McQueen sibling, then she began an affair with Jacqui's husband Alec (whom Jacqui had only married to get him a visa). They later broke up when Alec went back to his native Albania.

Answer: Jess

Jess swings her long hair around. It is the same image with her long hair even though she cut it just after the titles were updated.

Jessica Harris is played by Jennifer Biddall and arrived in 2005 as a student at the university. She has had meningitis, lost her best friend Olivia in the fire at the dog, and has seen her father become bankrupt and later sent to prison.

Answer: eye

This is a girl's eye - and it's blue but it is unclear which character past or present (if any) it belongs to.
