Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. For one episode of the "Andy Griffith Show", Andy deputized me so that I could prove to my visiting brother, Ralph, that I hadn't turned out to be the black sheep after all. I'm known for locking myself in the cell when I've had a bit too much to drink, does that tell you who I am?

Answer: Otis Campbell

The episode "Deputy Otis" was broadcast in 1962. Otis, in letters to his brother, had given him the impression that he was a Deputy in Mayberry, and Andy deputized him for the day of his brother's visit.

Spoiler: the twist in the story happens when brother Ralph locks himself in the cell after have a bit too much of the drink. Who's the black sheep now?

My sister, Barbara Linden-Warner, was abducted when she was eighteen and enjoying her debutante year. Have I given you enough to identify me?

Answer: Michael Linden-Warner

The show "New Tricks" has three previously retired cops working on cold cases with Detective Superintendent Sandra Pullman. In this episode they not only solve the old case, and arrest two of the men for other crimes, but we also follow the detectives through some interesting twists.

"New Tricks" first aired in 2003. Though several sites categorize this as a comedy, my humble opinion is that this was not a very comedic episode.
3. Really, I don't know why everyone thinks I am the black sheep of the family. After all, my sister-in-law, Nancy Botwin, is the one who decided to sell marijuana after my brother Judah died of a heart attack. If I share that our story is told in "Weeds", do you know who I am?

All of the names listed were characters in the Showtime serial "Weeds", aired between 2005 and 2012. The plot began soon after Judah Botwin's death when Nancy determined that in order to maintain her and her children that she would sell marijuana. As the shows continued she became more and more involved in other criminal activities.

Answer: Jeremy Evans

The pilot for "Night Gallery" was actually three sketches, "The Cemetery", "Eyes", and "The Escape Route". The show was broadcast from 1969 to 1973, and Rod Serling was responsible for creating many of the scripts, as well as adapting from many other authors.

Spoiler: As the story continues, after Jeremy dies from falling down the stairs in a panic, it becomes clear that the haunted picture was manipulated by the butler so that he could inherit the riches. The butler was then haunted by the same painting.
5. I tried to show my sister, Kitty Forman, that I wasn't still the black sheep when I visited in my pink Thunderbird. I had earned the car by selling Kathy May Cosmetics, and visited during the episode "Eric's Naughty No-No" from "That '70s Show". Do you remember my name?

Answer: Paula Sigurdson

Before Paula goes home, she shares her motto, "Search for life to live life", with Kitty. Part of the plot for this episode also has the boys (Hyde, Kelso, Fez, and Eric) going to an x-rated movie with some unexpected consequences.

"That '70s Show" was aired from 1998-2006, but focused on the story of the teenagers for the three years from 1976-1979. It brought cool and groovy back for those that have memories of that era, and introduced it to newer generations.
6. Though my mother loves me the most, my father and brother always treat me like the black sheep. I was in "Dallas" with them, but was then able to move to California and have my own show "Knots Landing". Which brother am I?

Answer: Gary Ewing

Each time Gary reunites with his family, the expectations of his father and the ridicule of his brother cause him a great deal of anguish and strife, and eventually he returns to drinking. "Knots Landing" was a spin-off of "Dallas" and Gary Ewing, now living in California, was able to focus on the his troubled re-marriage to Valene. This show rivaled the popularity of "Dallas".

This Poirot mystery, starring David Suchet, aired as the first episode of season six, in 1995. Poirot was invited because Simeon Lee thought he was in danger. Indeed, Simeon was murdered while alone in a locked room, and more, the diamonds were gone from the safe.

The novel of this title was first published in 1938. Hercule Poirot, the Belgian detective, was created by Agatha Christie, and first appeared in "The Mysterious Affair at Styles", published in 1920. Poirot is one of Christie's most famous and long-lived characters, appearing in 33 novels, one play (Black Coffee), and more than fifty short stories published between 1920 and 1975 and set in the same era.

The show was broadcast in the U.S. from 1993 to 2001. There were also five television movies made with the same premise. The character of Dr. Mark Sloan, as played by Dick van Dyke, originally appeared in the series "Jake and the Fatman" during the season four (1991) episode "It Never Entered My Mind".

This show starred Dick van Dyke and his son, Barry. In addition, Barry's children Carey, Shane, Taryn, and Wes were also cast in the series for various episodes.
10. As Samantha tells Darrin, I've always been the black sheep of the family. However in "The Joker is a Card", I pull a joke on Darrin by convincing him to learn a magic spell. The family then cooperates with each other to teach me a lesson. Still, I was playing jokes again by the end of the show, does that reveal who I am?

Answer: Uncle Arthur

This season two "Bewitched" episode introduced Paul Lynde as Uncle Arthur, who then became one of the popular recurring characters. Uncle Arthur taught Darrin the "Yagazuzie Zim" spell, which did not make Endora disappear, but it did give Uncle Arthur a good laugh.

"Bewitched" aired from 1964 to 1972, and somehow even weathered the change of cast from Dick York to Dick Sargent. Dick York was forced to quit due to sickness.
