[Stan]: "This sweetheart is Vernon 'Vice' McRoy. One of the largest drug traffickers in the Midwest. And he, along with Jaime and Luis Cruz, murdered McRoy's wife, Elizabeth McRoy, while their 8-year-old son, Lonny McRoy, looked on."
[Mary]: "Wow. Talk about your textbook bad parenting."
[Stan]: "According to the little boy, Mommy objected to Dad and company conducting the drug business in the house. Things were said, umbrage was taken and boom-shakalakalaka, here we are."
[Mary]: "Wait. So who's coming into the program?"
[Stan]: "The boy."
[Marshall]: "By himself? Can we do that?"
[Stan]: "The Attorney General thinks so."
[Mary]: "And this kid's willing to testify against his father?"
[Stan]: "He doesn't have to. Dad copped to involuntary manslaughter, he's doing two to five at Indiana State. But apparently, little Lonny has a disturbing knowledge of his dad's drug business. That's what the Feds want him to testify about."

Leo and Mary talked while Carter and Wendy Billups debated adding Leo to their family:

[Leo]: "You told them I was sweet?"
[Mary]: "You could be sweet. If your life depended on it. If the future of the free world depended on it, and there was some sort of cash payout involved. You could be sweet."
[Leo]: "Oh crap. Are they praying?"
[Mary]: "Maybe not."
[Leo]: "Good God. What kind of potato head yokels have you hooked me up with?"
[Mary]: "Okay. Look. For your information, 'Mr. Potato Head Yokel' in there helped bilk the United States Government out of nearly three billion dollars."

Jinx and Brandi surprised Mary with a home-cooked meal and a clean house, all with the hopes of convincing her to give Jinx the $2500 needed to buy the samples and start her business with Dana Dean Cosmetics.

Vernon McRoy, Leo's father, received an early release from prison and proceeded to sue the United States Government for custody of Leo, although the Billups had already legally adopted him. Leo had to be taken to meet with a judge in Indiana.

At the safe house in Indiana, Leo asked Mary about her guns. He commented that his dad had a gun similar to hers, but that he had never shot a gun before. However, a few minutes later, he said...

[Mary]: "Yeah."
[Leo]: "I lied. I did shoot a gun once."
[Mary]: "Oh yeah. When?"
[Leo]: "The day my mom died."
[Mary]: "What are you talking about?"
[Leo]: "That day, I heard my dad, Jaime and Luis threatening her. So, I ran inside to get my dad's gun to protect her. When I opened the door, I saw them pointing guns at my mom. So, I shot at them. I guess I missed. Because my mom got shot, anyway."

Mary had this conversation with Marshall after her visit with Vernon, Leo's father. She had told Vernon that she had discovered that he had taken the blame for Elizabeth's death to protect Leo from having to face the fact that he had killed his mother.

Then she explained that Leo was better off with his adoptive family and that she intended to return Leo to them, no matter what the judge ruled.

While at Dan's house, his dog, Lola, opened Jinx's cosmetic sample case and destroyed the contents.
[Jinx]: "Oh, no! No. No. No. No. No. No. No."
[Dan]: "What's the matter?"
[Jinx]: "Your stupid mutt destroyed my samples!"
[Dan]: (to the dog) "Oh, no. Poor baby. Look at you. All made up, and not in a very tasteful way."
[Jinx]: "Poor baby? I borrowed $2500 from my daughter for these supplies. You're going to have to pay for them."
[Dan]: (to Jinx) "Baby, I love you. Really I do. But not two-and-a-half G's worth."

Judge Arlene Holiday ruled that Leo was to be returned to his biological father, Vernon, because the US government had overstepped their authority when they placed him in Witness Protection. At the last minute, Vernon told the judge that he wanted to renounce any legal claim to Leo and wanted Leo to be returned to his adoptive family. Vernon ultimately agreed to testify against the Cruz organization in exchange for entering Witness Protection and being relocated near Leo.
