Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's start at the beginning of Jim and Pam's relationship. According to the episode 'Launch Party', who started working at Dunder Mifflin first?

Answer: Pam

In 'Launch Party', Jim asks Pam, 'Do you remember what you said to me on my first day of work, just before you walked me over to my desk?' To which Pam replies, 'Yes. "Enjoy this moment, because you're never going to go back to this time before you met your desk mate, Dwight."' Before this episode aired, however, actress Jenna Fischer (Pam) always thought that Jim started before Pam, so there has been a bit of confusion in the fandom! The episode "The Secret" also negates this, as Jim admits to having a crush on Pam when she starts working there.
2. In 'The Dundies', Pam gets so drunk that she kisses Jim! She is engaged to Roy at the time, of course, so they pretend it's a platonic kiss. After she orders a couple margaritas, what does she then order that gets her so drunk?

Answer: Nothing; she steals leftover drinks

Pam got herself banned from Chili's after that incident! In the words of Jim, though, 'Totally worth it.'
3. At the first Dunder Mifflin Scranton Christmas party the viewers get to see, it's also the first Christmas where Jim gets Pam for Secret Santa. He collects many highly personal gifts and puts them in a container for her gift. What is the container?

Answer: a teapot

Of course, Michael messes up Secret Santa and Pam picks an iPod, leaving Dwight with the teapot which he will use to irrigate his sinuses! Thankfully, Pam trades the iPod for the teapot and gets her gifts. Jim also wrote her a card, 'because Christmas is the time to tell people how you feel,' but he takes it out and puts it in his back pocket at the last minute. Aww, Jim. Fans still want to know what exactly that card said!
4. 'Booze Cruise' is the episode with the epic 27 seconds of silence, during which Jim looks at Pam with longing and almost tells her how he feels. He doesn't, but he does tell the camera crew! Finish this Jim quote from that episode: 'You know what? I would save the _____. I just wanted to clear that up.'

Answer: receptionist

After the 27 Seconds of Silence, Captain Jack asks the guys at the bar who they would save if the office building were on fire. Jim, not being totally honest, says he would save the customer. After walking away from the guys, however, he clarifies to the camera crew that he would, in fact, save the receptionist, Pam.

He then goes to talk to Pam -- presumably to confess his feelings -- but is interrupted by Roy making a drunken announcement to set a date for his and Pam's wedding.
5. In the episode 'Boys and Girls', Jim tells Pam, 'You gotta take a chance on something sometime, Pam.' What is he referring to?

Answer: an art internship

This episode makes me really hate Roy! Jan tells Pam about an internship through Dunder Mifflin where she can study graphic design. Roy discourages her, saying it's impractical. Jim, on the other hand, encourages her to follow her dream of being an artist. Aww, Jim!
6. 'Casino Night' and 'Gay Witch Hunt': FINALLY, Jim tells Pam that he is in love with her! The second season ends with their kiss, and viewers were tortured waiting until the third season to find out what happened. After they kiss, in the first episode of the third season, Jim asks Pam a question that determines their future. What is that question?

Answer: Are you really going to marry him?

Unfortunately, Pam's answer is that yes, she's really going to marry him. She doesn't go ahead with it, but Jim transfers to Stamford anyway, where part of the third season takes place, with Jim and Pam having little contact.
7. In 'Phyllis's Wedding', Jim takes his girlfriend Karen as his date. Viewers can feel the tension between him and Pam. When he requests 'some of those famous Beesly dance moves', and Pam replies that she is 'such a dorky dancer', how does Jim reply to that?

Answer: I know. It's very cute.

In this episode, Jim hints to the camera crew that if he weren't with Karen, he and Pam would probably be together. 'Hypothetically, if I thought Pam was interested then.... No! It's totally hypothetical.' This left viewers with strong urges to shove Karen out the way and shake some sense into Pam! This episode is heartbreaking as Pam watches Jim dance with Karen, and Jim watches Pam leave with Roy. Roy had been trying to win Pam back, and in her loneliness, Pam decides to get back together with him after this episode. Fortunately it's a very brief courtship, as Pam dumps Roy after Roy becomes violent when she confesses that she and Jim kissed.
8. In 'Beach Games', Pam walks on coals and makes a very brave personal confession. What does she NOT say to Jim?

Answer: I'm in love with you.

In her speech, Pam just about says everything BUT 'I'm in love with you.' We could read between the lines, though, and so could Jim. My favorite part: 'There were a lot of reasons to call of my wedding, but the truth is I didn't care about any of those reasons until I met you.' Oh, Pam! *swoon*
9. In 'The Job', Jim applies for a job at corporate in New York. During his interview, he finds a piece of memorabilia attached to a note from Pam. The object, a reminder of their friendship, is from a previous episode. Which episode is it from?

Answer: Office Olympics

The note, saying 'Don't forget us when you're famous!', and the yogurt-lid medal from 'Office Olympics' appears when CFO David Wallace is asking where Jim sees himself in ten years. Jim apparently can't see anything but Pam, because he promptly withdraws from consideration, dumps Karen, leaves her in New York, and drives back to Scranton to ask Pam out to dinner! She says yes. :)
10. In the episode 'Money', Jim and Pam have their first night away together as a couple. They stay at Dwight's beet farm! What does Jim say he always imagined less of when he pictured their first night away together -- some, just less?

Answer: manure

Despite the strangeness of Schrute Farms, Jim and Pam have a good time and help improve Dwight's mood after his break-up with Angela. This episode also features a favorite moment of Jam fans: Jim consoles Dwight in the stairwell, telling him how awful he felt when Pam and Roy were together.

He returns upstairs where Pam asks him about dinner. He kisses her passionately, and then suggests an Italian restaurant. Pam says, 'Jim's just really passionate about Italian food.' Jim says, 'Yep. I'm very passionate about Italian food.

In fact, um, I'm in love with Italian food.' Awww.
11. Season four's 'Chair Model' is the first episode where we see the subject of marriage come up between Jim and Pam. Jim informs Pam that he is going to propose to her, but she doesn't quite take him seriously. We find out that Jim is dead serious and has even bought a ring. When did he buy it?

Answer: A week after they started dating

Okay, I admit it. When Jim showed the ring and said that, I squealed with excitement. I think they really belong together!
12. In 'Weight Loss', Pam is studying graphic design at Pratt Institute in New York City. Near the end of the episode, Jim proposes to Pam! How does he surprise her?

Answer: He asks her to lunch midway between Scranton and New York.

They agreed that they didn't want a long engagement, but Jim just couldn't wait! The fireworks wrong answer was inspired by the episode 'Goodbye Toby', where Jim plans to propose at Toby's going-away party and gives the Party Planning Committee money for fireworks, but is beaten to the punch by Andy, who proposes to Angela.
13. In 'Frame Toby', we get to see the house that Jim bought for him and Pam, which was his parents' house. Which part of the house has he turned into an art studio for Pam?

Answer: the garage

Jim isn't sure whether he made the right decision -- after all, he bought the house without consulting Pam! As he gives her a tour, she's speechless, but when they get to the garage-turned-studio, she professes her love for it. 'You bought me a HOUSE!' she says happily. They decide not to sleep in Jim's parents' old room, though.
14. In 'Stress Relief', Pam's parents are having marital problems. Jim inspires Pam's dad to move out and find his own apartment. What does he tell Pam's dad to prompt this?

Answer: How much he loves Pam

When Jim tells Pam's dad just how much he loves Pam, Mr. Beesly realizes that he's never felt that way about Mrs. Beesly. He presumably decides they weren't meant to be and leaves her, while leaving Pam confident about her future with Jim.
15. In 'Cafe Disco', Jim and Pam almost elope! Why don't they?

Answer: They want a real, cheesy wedding.

Michael's Cafe-Disco party made them think of the reception they could have with people dancing happily to cheesy music. Pam says, 'I like cheesy,' and Jim says, 'Me too,' and they decide not to elope. However, the last episode gives them something they could have used as an excuse to elope! The last scene of 'Company Picnic' shows Jim and Pam through the blinds in a hospital room without mikes -- a tribute to the UK version in which Tim confesses his feelings for Dawn in a private room with the mikes off -- reacting very happily to something a doctor tells them. We're left presuming that Pam is pregnant, which was confirmed by executive producer and writer Jen Celotta in an interview with fan site officetally.com shortly after the episode aired. My favorite thing about that scene was the subtle tears of joy in Jim's eyes. John Krasinski is a talented actor!
