Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening scene several of the M*A*S*H-ers are playing poker. A few minutes later, a broke and desperate Klinger offers to sell an item in order to get back in the game. What does he sell and who does he sell it to?

Answer: Margaret - a pair of earrings.

Klinger swore that the earrings went for $7.00 at the Tokyo PX. BJ said, "Klinger, don't you think that hoops before breakfast is a little trashy?" Klinger replied, "If I thought it would get me out, I'd wear hula hoops in my ears." He then lowered his asking price to $2.50 and Margaret said she'd take them. Klinger said, "I hope I win them back. I don't want the holes in my ears to close up."
2. The first person Sidney writes to Sigmund Freud about is Hawkeye. In one scene, Hawkeye enters the post-op wearing a tux, a safari hat and flippers. He approaches the bed of a wounded soldier and asks the soldier if this is the first time he's been wounded.

Answer: False

Actually, he asks the soldier if this is the first time he's been pregnant! The soldier thought this was funny and smiled.
3. Someone at the 4077th decides to have fun and play practical jokes on some of the 4077th members. One of the victims is Colonel Potter. Colonel Potter is sitting in a jeep, looking through a pair of binoculars. When he pulls the binoculars away from his eyes, he has a dark circle around both of his eyes. However, Colonel Potter is not alone in the jeep. Who is in the jeep with him?

Answer: Radar

Radar, upon seeing the dark circles under the Colonel's eyes, laughs uncontrollably and then procedes to fall out of the jeep!
4. Hawkeye happens to meet a young bomber pilot who jumped from his plane when it caught on fire. He notices the pilot is limping and offers to look at his leg. The pilot accepts, and after Hawkeye bandages the pilot's leg the pilot says, "My gosh, will you look at those boots! What a mess! What have you been walking in, red clay?" Does Hawkeye answer that he has?

Answer: No

Hawkeye replies, "No, blood." When he tells the pilot he'll look at his leg, the pilot says, "Oh, are you a doctor?" Hawkeye replies, "That's what they all think here. Actually, I just like legs."
5. Sidney enters the Swamp and discovers Hawkeye and BJ reading his letter to Freud. Hawkeye and BJ finally get Sidney to confess why he's really there. Was it because a young soldier who was a patient of Sidney's killed himself because he heard voices telling him to do so?

Answer: Yes

Sidney told Hawkeye and BJ that one day the young soldier was very calm and relaxed. He said, "Sometimes that's a sign that they've made a decision. Only somehow, I missed it. And later that night, after I went to sleep, that sweet, troubled kid listened to the voices." Of course, Hawkeye and BJ felt bad for him.
6. Little did the trio know that old Ferret Face was listening in! After Sidney finished telling Hawkeye and BJ his reason for being there, Frank popped out from underneath his cot's covers and said, "Well, well, so the doctor can't cure himself, hmm?" Hawkeye said, "Oh God, I thought that lump under his pillow was dirty laundry." BJ said, "It is." Frank went on razzing Sidney, saying that Sidney needed to pull himself up by his own boot strap. Hawkeye said, "Frank, why don't you pull yourself up by your own - - ?"

Answer: Jockstrap

Frank replied, "Makes me no never mind. I got all my cookies." Frank then procedes to put on his helmet. Little does Frank know that the practical joker has put eggs in his helmet! Sidney, Hawkeye and BJ get a pretty good laugh at Frank's expense!
7. In one scene an ambulance is leaving the 4077th. It is full of soldiers recovering from their wounds who are on their way to an evacuation hospital. Suddenly, the ambulance crashes and overturns. The 4077th members rush to help. Radar says that the ambulance driver hit the turn too fast. Colonel Potter tells Radar to tell the ambulance driver to report to his office on the double. What is Radar's response?

Answer: "He's dead, sir."

Later in the episode we see Colonel Potter reading a letter that Radar wrote to the dead ambulance driver's parents. It said that the 4077th was proud of him and that they'll miss him very much. Colonel Potter liked it and told Radar not to change a word.
8. Margaret has found out about Sidney's problem and goes to the Swamp to talk to him. She asks him if he's thinking of doing something drastic. He assures her that he's not. He tells her, "I have a dull ache behind my ear, sort of like a severe "Geritol" defiency." He then asks her if she ever gets like that. She tells him that it would be useless and that she wouldn't permit it. She then goes on to give him several examples of problems she's facing right now. She tells him that she's not upset over these woes and that in strength there is serenity. He says, "Well, I tip my hat to you, Major." Just then, Margaret sees an athletic supporter. Seeing this certain item upsets Margaret a great deal and she asks Sidney to put something over it. What is Sidney's response?

Answer: "Like a fig leaf?"

One of the things that Margaret claims that isn't upsetting her is the fact that her bethrothed celebrated his birthday without her there. Sidney says, "He must miss you very much." Margaret replies, "No. He said they had a very good time." After hearing Margaret claiming that getting upset over things is useless, Sidney finds her reaction to the athletic supporter very amusing! He says to her, "Margaret, you're a nurse!" She accuses him of "parading that thing" in front of her.

He denies it's his and then Margaret goes on a rant about the bad qualities of BJ and Hawkeye! Sidney puts his hat over the ofensive item at Margaret's request and apologizes to her because she got so upset. Of course, she denies everything and repeats that getting upset over anything would be useless and she wouldn't permit it!
9. The last person that Sidney writes to Freud about is BJ. He says, "The one person I can't figure out, even with all you've taught me, Sigmund, is BJ Hunicutt. He's an enigma in size 13 shoes." When Sidney finishes his letter, he hears a noise coming from outside the Swamp and decides to investigate. He goes outside and discovers BJ, aka the practical joker, filling one of the bunkers that Frank had dug earlier full of water! Does BJ let Sidney help him with his latest practical joke?

Answer: Yes

BJ asks Sidney if he wants to help. Sidney replies, "Sure. What can I do?" BJ tells Sidney, "As loud as you can, shout 'air raid'." Sidney laughs and does just that! Frank, who is asleep, hears Sidney and runs outside wearing nothing but a pair of long johns and nothing on his feet. Frank also shouts "Air raid" a few times before tripping and falling into the watery bunker! I guess BJ disliked Frank so much that he wanted to play a practical joke on him twice!
10. Does the practical joker get Hawkeye?

Answer: No

No, but in the episode "The Joker Is Wild", BJ and the others get Hawkeye good! And BJ also gets Sidney by tying empty gas cans on the back of his jeep before he leaves in the episode "Dear Sigmund".

Well, that's it. I hope you enjoyed this quiz. Bye!
