Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was Cliff's entire first name in the first season?

Answer: Clifford

In the pilot, and a few other episodes, the metal rectangular sign beside the door says "Clifford Huxtable, M.D."
2. In the second season and all future seasons, what was Cliff's full name?

Answer: Heathcliff

I believe he was once called "Heathclifford" by his wife, but that was only once, and otherwise he was "Heathcliff."
3. Cliff sometimes announced Rudy's full first name. What was it?

Answer: Rudith

I thought you spelled it "Rudie" until I looked it up on IMDb.
4. How many Emmy awards did "The Cosby Show" win in 1985 (right after the first season)?

Answer: 3

They won Best Directing for "The Younger Woman," Best Writing for "Pilot," and Best Comedy Series. Phylicia Rashad (then Ayers-Allen) was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy, and "Goodbye, Mr. Fish" was nominated for Best Writing. They only actually won 3.
5. In the pilot, Cliff and Clair are said to have six children, until it's mentioned they only have five.

Answer: False

Clair said, "Why do we have four children?" And Cliff said, "Because we did not want five."
6. What was the first episode where Phylicia Ayers-Allen was credited as Phylicia Rashad?

Answer: "Theo and Cockroach"

This was the episode where Theo and Cockroach try and listen to a record of three British men (one of them was actually Earle Hyman, who played Cliff's father) reading "Macbeth."
7. What episode contained the only swear word in the entire series?

Answer: "Pilot"

When Theo said he wasn't going to college, Cliff said "Right!" with the swear word in front of it.
8. What was last episode with Cockroach in it?

Answer: "Dance Mania"

That was the episode where Clair got Theo and Cockroach each a ticket to "Dance Mania," but when they got there, only one could go in. When Theo told him to, Cockroach rushed in. Naturally, Theo got mad.
9. In "Theogate," Peter and Rudy were part of the "jury." Who was the other member?

Answer: Bud

Theo and Cockroach made jokes about an overweight woman behind the counter at Circus Burger. After that, the coach threw them off the team. Clair gave him a fair trial. Cliff was the bailiff, Vanessa was the judge, Peter, Rudy, and Kenny were the jury, Cockroach was the defense attorney, and Clair was (of course) the prosecuting attorney.
10. The show ran for eight seasons.

Answer: True

The final episode ended with Bill and Phylicia walking off the stage and out the stage door.
